Here I am 24 days after my surgery and I have GAINED weight! This week I have gained 3.4 pounds! I'm still eating everything that I'm supposed to be eating and drinking. TOM was 2 weeks ago - so it shouldn't be that I wouldn't think. This is so depressing...

It's Water weight. I know that doesn't make it better, but it's pretty common around this time for most of us.

There's no way you've gained 2lbs of fat. Your body is changing, and trying to figure out what's going on. If you've amped up exercise/working out, even just walking more, couple that with the heat, you're retaining Water.

It'll come off ! ! !

I can relate, I gained 2 or 3# around that same time frame too and it came off within the week. Be patient and keep doing what your doing.

How exasperating...maybe I'll go 2 weeks before weighing!! I feel for you... The stall is bad enough. Are you exercising Nancy?? Just curious. I hit my 2 1/2 week stall, and it's been almost 2 weeks and I am "staying the course" but it is so tempting to change things up; but I really think it's too early for my body to have gotten complacent, you know? Maybe at a couple months, but not 2 weeks. Sooooo, wisdom has to prevail!!! Hang tough lady. PUt the stinking scale away if you have to because it's totally fickle right now. We can bring it back out and dust it off every once in a while, and maybe in a couple months when our body stops throwing it's tantrum because it's accepted that THIS time it is NOT going to dictate to us...maybe THEN we can take it out of time-out and return it to being part of our culture. :P

Nancy, this flux is NOT reality...it's just the waring of the shock and awe phase!!!!

Gawd. I'm still losing the Water weight I gained from IV fluids and now I'm expecting to stall 2-3 weeks out? That will give me 1 week of losing this month. I feel cheated out of my 1st month of significant loss. So not fair. <petulant foot stomp>

Yes I agree, because I have Water fluctuations all the time. It is a struggle not to let the scales to affect our confidence in our sleeve and our weight loss. But if your getting in mostly Protein and getting your water in, there's no way this should fail us. Keep doing the right things, and if you feel as if the scales are affecting your mood and self esteem, just give yourself a break from them.

I gain 1-2 kg at a time. <_< It always goes away again. I get down to a kg number and then bounce back up and around for like a week at a go before I settle in at that number, then the same thing happens with the next number down. LOL. I'm used to it by now.

It is annoying, I agree. I came out of surgery weighing 5 lbs more than when I went in, then I lost ounces for the first few days, then the Water drained. I was losing about a lb a day until 2 weeks post..... then nada, nix, nihl, ZERO, for about a week and a half! It has picked up again and now I am losing about a half a lb a day. I was told by my NUT that a lb of fat is bulky, so I can lose a lot of inches before losing a lot of lbs. She said, a fast drop in lbs usually means we are losing muscle. So just stay the course and let your clothes be the judge. They will get looser even if the scale won't budge!

I expected that I would stay the same - just not gain. I'm sticking with it because well, I have to. The only exercise I am doing is walking - my surgeon won't clear me for anything else before 6 weeks out. I'm hoping when I see him again on the 28th, that he will clear me for more exercise so I can start a real exercise program. I know that will help.

I'm with you Nancy....I gain 1 lb. since Monday. No losing at all this week. I'm very frustrated. I know to expect it, but it doesn't make it easier to handle. And to make it worse I'm having a freakin period. I'm post menopause....haven't had one in over 1 1/2 years. My surgeon said it happens, that our hormones are all messed up for about 2 months post surgery.

I just want to see the scale move again. It's so depressing.

Do you power walk?

No, I just do regular walking. I was extremely sedentary before the surgery and had zero stamina. Now I can walk for about 15 minutes before I have to have a break.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
