New here and surgery scheduled for August 15

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have been reading the forums for about a month and finally decided to chime in with my story. I am scheduled for VSG on August 15. I am excited and nervous all in one. I got for my PAT on Monday August 8.

I will be happy to get off the diet roller coaster. I'm 36 and have been up and down constantly as long as I can remember.

Thank you to all the veterans who have given so much advice. I had first chosen the bypass surgery but after doing more research I switched over to the sleeve. I am very happy with that choice and feel very content with it.

I look forward to sharing my journey with everyone.

I was sleeved on July 25. ANd yes you made the right decision. I feel great. Had pain for the first time yesterday because my drain was done and had shifted, Dr. took it out and I am feeling much better, already down 9 lbs from surgery date. Gained a lot of Water weight in the hospital but that was gone the first 2 days home. Came home on full liquids and have not felt hungry in 8 days. THis is awesome. I eat every 2.5 hours because the dr told me to, sometimes I forget. But I have managed to get in 50-60 grams of Protein everyday since my third day home. The Water drinking has been a little harder, I really have to be more conscientious about sipping all day long. I know before the surgery I had all sorts of questions about what I would be able to eat etc. If I can help in anyway, I am here. so many people on this forum were so helpful in my decision to take this journey, I feel I have to pay it forward. Good Luck.We are here if you need us.

I have already noticed that this is a great place for information and support, I am very glad I found it! My doctor didn't mention a drain either or some other things that I have read but I feel very informed by reading everyone elses experiences.

I am August 15th too! Going for my pre-op tomorrow :)

Awesome. I did my pre-op yesterday and everything turned out well. The only thing that I am waiting on is for the surgeons office to get my paperwork for work. They need to hurry, I don't want to reschedule.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
