Endo Question - Sedation?

Recommended Posts

Hey, my beautiful and handsome Pre and Post Sleevies!! My EGD/endo is scheduled on Monday and I have a question about the sedation they use. My surgeon said it's a sedative, you're not knocked out, but most people don't remember. My questions are these: 1. Does it make you 'feel funny'? I HATE to feel 'funny' if you know what I mean....like that too drunk/spinny feeling. Ugh. Or do you just feel tired and can you sleep?

2. How long does the sedative last? My appt is at 10am, and the doc says it wears off after a few hours. But how long does it really linger? My Hubbylicious works evenings and I need to pick up my 2 year old at 4pm from daycare. Possible? Or are you dingey for a while afterwards??

Any other input would be welcome...one step closer!

Sure do love you guys..... and knowing you are all here with me

I had mine on the 19th. At Central Baptist by Dr. Weiss in Lexington KY. All i remember is getting the oxygen in my nose& I was gone! I woke up easy and wasnt groggy at all. My throat wasn't sore. My MIL drove me, and we went shopping, lunch & I had my NUT appt 3 hrs later. Not sure what they used, but it was wonderful.

Mine was good stuff. Don't remember a thing and woke up right after without being groggy. Hope you get the same stuff.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
