I had a few firsts today.

- My first Debbie Downer experience. I am trying to keep this as quiet as possible because of the stigma attached. I felt comfortable telling one close friend (because she may be watching the baby while I am gone). I have to admit that I thought for sure she would be excited because she has relatives in Mexico. Well, you know what happens when you assume. She was Debbie Downer! I gave her all the reasons and research and she still wasn't picking up what I was putting down. Sigh...oh well.

- I had my first "doh!" moment today. I mistakenly read the finance company as Care Credit instead of CosmetiCredit. I got approved for Care Credit but can't use them. So I'm waiting until tomorrow with my fingers crossed (and so is Nina) that the other loan company will approve.

- My first Protein shake. I got the Myoplex Lite pre-made in chocolate and vanilla. The chocolate wasn't bad. I'm going to go to Vitamin Shoppe soon to try the nectar and Jay Robb flavors. I want a good mix of powder and liquid for when I get to that stage.

- My first chew-a-thon. I had a hamburger from McD's and decided to try to chew it 30 times before swallowing. I realized...WOAH I eat fast and barely chew anything! I am like a vacuum cleaner! I also realized that liquified McDonald's burgers are pretty nasty.

This is such a mental journey. I am so grateful that you are all here to help me!

Ha! The burger thing is funny, I try and do that too with at least one bite of everything I eat just to see if I will still be able to stomach it after my surgery...LOL so far, not much luck in finding something that tastes nearly as good liquified...lol

Hi, loved your post. There are those who I call uneducated when it comes to WLS. So just remember this is ALWAYS ALL ABOUT YOU AND NO ONE ELSE. Stop trying right now to educated them. When you get home and you doing well and dropping the pounds they will sit up and notice.

LOL we all inhaled our food. Now you know how you got fat so easy. You could inhale the food. It does take time and effort to eat. I wish you great success with your WLS. If you are going to Dr. Aceves you have picked the VERY best.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
