For those of you who have had your information submitted to your insurance companies, how often did you call to inquire on the status (approved, denied, etc)? Do you feel that your calling helped to get your decision any sooner? My information should be submitted on Tuesday and my plan was to give it 24 hrs for them to get it and process everything in their system and then call twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening.

daily and YES! I called the day after it was sent, they routed for review and I called the next day and got my approval!! If i had waited for the letter I would still be waiting - 2 + weeks later! My surgery is in a week!

I say calling is a great idea, but twice a day is a little excessive.

My info was submitted on a Tuesday, I gave it until the following week to start calling, and got my approval the first time I called. WOOHOO!

I thought it was and that's why I wanted other peoples opinion, LOL!

I was specifically told NOT to call the office. It was in one of the papers I had to sign. They said calls were an interruption and slowed down their ability to get their work done. It was maddeneing. They were fairly good at communicating, but I was sorely tempted to call many times.

MissBliss I called my insurance not the Dr's office - and trust me two different departments at insurance do the work (I work for them). My Dr's office scheduler actually said "I love you BCBS employees, you are on top of it!!"

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
