Well, hard to believe, I went thru with the surgery. This is day 4, and not doing too bad. The first day was really rough, but it has gotten easier each day. Looking forward to getting this draining tube out, if is uncomfortable. My goal is to take in more Water and Protein. It is is amazing how you don't feel hungry and have to make yourself eat. Day of surgery I have lost 14 pounds, I thought wow, maybe I don't need the surgury, but decided to stick to my guns, and went with it. So far pretty satisfied.

Hi Tina! Glad to hear that you are doing ok. I had my surgery 4 days ago as well. The toughest time for me is in the morning... lots of aches and pains that have to work their way out of my system. Used to be a huge Ibuprofen junkie... so not being able to take that first thing in the morning is a bit tough. Are you getting all your Protein in? Which ones do you like? I'm goin' for a Lo Carb banana smoothie today from Smoothie King (39 grams protein/7 carbs) to see how that works. I am not a huge fan of anything I've tried so far.

Hang in there and keep up the positive attitude!!!

I have had the Gladiator shake from the smoothie king, it has no carbs or sugar. So far doing ok, the worst part is the drainage tube for me and I have an incision above my belly button that is sore too. I am trying to get in the Protein, but not much of an appitite. Today I am going to try some butternut squash Soup, we shall see how that goes. I have noticed that my stomach does make all kinds of noises, yesterday is sounded like a thunderstorm ready to rumble, it was the wierdiest feeling, I couldn't go the bathroom or pass gas, it was really wierd. I had the surgery done in Houston, where did you have yours at? Did you do pretty good with it? I was suprised my surgery was only an hour long. Hope things are going good for you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
