Hello from Texas

Recommended Posts

I'm Missy from North central Tx. Banded on May 22, so I'm a newbie all round. I had my first fill 2 weeks ago, and I'm confused because I expected to feel "fuller", while eating less. The amt I'm able to eat has not changed much at all. I am trying to eat less, but the whole point of all this pain, time and $$$ was to have a smaller eating pouch I thought.

.....still on a learning curve I guess.

Hi, and welcome!

Each person is different, so it may take a while for your fill to "kick in." Also, it depends on the size of your band and the amount of your fill. I have a 4cc band, and have had .7cc put in. For others, that amount is not enough. For me, I have averaged about a pound a week loss.

There is also the idea that because you CAN eat more, doesn't mean you SHOULD. Working with the head hunger issue is a big part of this journey. Just something to consider.

Give yourself a couple of weeks, and if you think you need more restriction, get another small fill, and work with that for a while. I recommend sneaking up on your "sweet spot" to avoid as much as possible over-restriction so you lead a healthy and happy banded life!

Good luck to you! I have been immensely happy with my decision!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
