One week post-op update

Recommended Posts

One week ago today I had my surgery. Today, I weighed myself and found that I weighed just 268.2!!!!!!! I have not been under 270 in YEARS!

In the one week of post surgery I have lost MORE weight than the previous 8 weeks combined! I have lost just over 11 pounds this week. I have never been able to take off 11 pounds so quickly before. In the past I would struggle and I MAY accomplish it after a couple of months. Now, I did it in ONE WEEK!

This makes dealing with the diarrhea and the very tiny portion sizes so worth it!

That's awesome Nancy! I'm on week 2, maybe we can be buddies and help each other out. I lost 9.8 my first week. Woo-hoo!

Don't you just love your sleeve?

Thanks for the replies. Yup, I'm loving the sleeve right now.

I stopped by the hall where I work today as I needed to get a couple of things there and one of the ladies who I haven't seen since before my surgery (although she knew I was having the surgery) said that she thought my stomach area looked thinner. Then one of the other ladies (who I happen to be staying with at the moment) also commented that my "front" looked smaller today. I can't see the difference yet though. It might have been the top I was wearing - a relatively new top that is slightly loose on me. But I'll still take it. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
