I am very happy for you. I also have BCBSIL & hope to be approved by November. They denied 5-11 b/c I need to complete 6 mos of weight mgmt classes but they accepted my co-morbidities. I had to change surgeons b/c my dr took a job in another state. I chose another surgeon with out missing a month so there should be no interruption.

Will be looking for your posts & cheering you on. Congrats on your approval.

all I can say is CALL CALL CALL! Call and see if received because then they will route for review quicker and check on approval because the letter takes 10 plus days (still don't have mine, approved a week ago Wednesday).

MeMeMEEE, did you just call the main number on the back of your BCBSIL card and told them your surgeon just submitted yesterday and you are confirming they received it?? I also have BCBSIL and my surgeon will be submitting first week in September when my 6 mos diet is over....any other details would be great! And will your surgeon schedule surgery on a verbal or do they wait until the have the actual letter to set a date??? I know every surgeon is different, but most often protocals are pretty similar. I am SO hoping to be sleeved in September and don't want to wait another month....it's been so hard to be patient through all these months!!

yes, thats all I did! Mine did it on a verbal but apparently there is an approval number you can get. You can also ask for a fax copy of your letter (not sure if they will but worth a try). I called first time and said was it received then called the next day to ask where I was on my chiropractic max for the year and oh by the way is there any response on my surgery?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
