2nd Fill Reflux - help!

Recommended Posts

OK, got my second fill today, up to 2.4cc's from 1.4cc's, band size 9.75. Here is my question. I am having some belching/reflux (ok so its like 'foam') sorry so graphic...also hiccups! Have had them like 7 times today. Just got my fill today, does this seem too tight, or just normal due to swelling/irritation from being filled?? Has anyone else ever experienced this or anything similar? I know I need to give it a few days I guess, I am able to keep liquids down, Water and broth, but only in small small sips. Any advice or comments are greatly appreciated.

I would wait a little and see if the inside swelling goes down. Try sipping some warm liquids. If the reflux doesn't stop in a few days I would Call the doctor, reflux sucks, don't let it go on too long.

I just got my 2nd fill---they put 3cc in and I drank 3 or 4 glasses of water....then get in my car about 40+ mi away and drink one tiny sip and threw up all over myself.....went back and they removed a whopping 0.1cc and watched this time on flouro and it went through....so....this was on Weds and he had told me 4 days of liquids (2clear, 2full) and I didn't even think and popped in my chew up Vitamin and was like a cat w/ a hairball til they came back out!! Which made it swell and more miserable!! I tend to hiccup when I have eaten/drank too much!! I was able to drink big drinks before this fill...now NO WAY....only small frequent sips!! It's a learning curve definitely!! Today I ate cream of chicken Soup w/ tiny pieces of chicken (about size of a pencil eraser) and did GREAT!! I'm always amazed when 3-4oz of soup lasts 4 hrs!! I think this band is such a gift!!

Hope it gets better for you!!!

God Bless,

Melody

Hey Shontel, Im just now reading this...

How's the foamy throat stuff going?

Im a little concerned about the amount of fill you received - it seems like a lot for a second fill.

You may be a little over filled - only time will tell. If the foamy stuff continues or symptoms get worst, please get an unfill, k?

Paula, that's just what I did...got .3cc's unfilled. Boy, INSTANT RELIEF!!! I definitely know what restriction is now! Thanks for everyone's input!! I lost 9 pounds in 3 days due to not being able to eat (and barely drink) I mean, I wanna lose some weight, but geees!!! Everything is great now!

Melody, I'm like you, tiny bits of anything fill me up and last forever! I definitely think the band is working as it should for me now. I am tight in the morning, so have to do the liquid Breakfast thing (ugh) but smaller amounts definitely satisfy me. Those small bites make me slow down and chew better, thats the goal! Thanks for your input :)

Hi - it does sound like you got a lot of fill! I went from 2.2 - 2.6 and just came back from an emergency trip to Tijuana for an unfill. I have 1.8 now and am on liquids for 7 days. It was horrible. BUT you may be ok however I would call your doc pretty quick about the reflex/heartburn. That is a big thing with my doc as he thinks it could cause a slip. Also I had it and it was horrible - 85% of the reason I went to Tijuana - couldn't keep maalox down - ugh. I feel for you but if you feel it is under control it may be the swelling, etc. But it never hurts to call the doc - you don't want a small problem turning into a big one! take care.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
