No, you are not alone. I have considered surgery many times in the past but always decided I wasn't ready to give up trying. Now that I have decided to do this it all I can think about...and I still have 10 months b4 I can get it done!!:( If I had the $$ today I would schedule it for tomorrow if I could, lol. I keep telling myself I have more time to prepare this way but I just won't listen to myself.

How can you help but be obsessed with this whole process! I feel bad for my poor husband-it's all he hears about lately! We went to his sister's house for dinner last night- and what did we talk about??? you guessed it ... "the sleeve"!!! I get sleeved on July 29th- 11 more days:) and his sister has decided to get sleeved also! Poor guy he just can't get away from it all! We were joking him last night that after he helps me with my recovery, he will know exactly what to do to take care of his sister in a few more months!

Kristie-- I am soooo with you. I stumbled accross the lapband forum maybe 3 years back and didn't have the 7500 ( at the time for it)... Then of course, I thought, nah, Nutrisystem is the way to go. Never works though! I always fall back into weight gain, and gain MORE. So, I'm with you. Good for saving up for Aceves. It'd take me years to do that - haha (Im a single mom ) so I gotta go with Almanza. :( Anyways, hang in there. Ladies, we will all be hot soon!

Well, for once I can say it pays to be a college student with 1 income and 2 kids lol. If it weren't for tax returns I wouldn't be able to go to him either. That will help with a chunk of the cost and we just have to save up the rest... plus with me being in school I have to wait until spring term lets out to get it done which is why I have to wait until may :( I wish we could get financed and do it sooner but sadly I have zero credit history. I considered almanza and ortiz as well as one other doc and aceves (I really "shopped" around lol) . Have you see almanza channel on youtube? I went there and had a bunch of questions answered. As good as everyone and everything says Aceves is he really isn't a video person. He didn't even narrate his vid on the sleeve. I hate that as I am the type that would love to get to know him BEFORE I actually show up (which is one reason I seriously considered Ortiz for awhile- his vids are all over the net and he seems very personable and knowledgeable), but this time I decided to take a leap of faith and trust that Aceves is as patient centered and friendly as all the testimonials say he is. In the end I was comforted by the fact that I could not find one single bad thing about him and his surgical abilities, and trust me I looked. That's what settled it for me. All I can say is as long as you have done your research and feel comfortable and safe with the surgeon you choose then that's the best you can do. The rest is in God's hands :)

When do you think you will be able to do your surgery?

Yes of course I am obsessing. Surgery is the 26th. Jumped through the last hoop today. I had my follow up with the cardiac doc. After all those tests I went through and being so scared, he said he couldn't find anything wrong and didn't know why my T- waves were inverted on the ekg.

Me too, I am trying to get everything I need so when it comes time Im all prepared. My date is 9-22-11 and I have already wrote out a to-do list for my husband while I'm gone and a chore list for the children. I thought I should do this while I still can think straight.

I am REALLY obsessing over this. I want this now! I know that most everyone says it's a process, It will go faster than you think. This I believe to be true, However, the day-to-day of it all is quite riddled with anxiety for me. Everyday I comb the net, researching pre and post surgery protocols. I have made composite lists of things I may need after surgery, To say that I left NO stone unturned is a gross understatement. And I just started the process in June. Going back and forth trying to determine whether or not Aetna wants a 3 or 6 month process is a source of frustration in and of itself. I can only speculate that some (not all) of my anxiety will be alleviated when I get a definitive surgery date.

YAY! BTW, you mentioned that you can't afford Aceves which is why you choose almanza, right? Well, when I realized today that this is going to cost MUCH more than expected because of bringing the boys I checked into Almanza. Are you aware that Aceves is a couple hundred cheaper than Aceves right now and if you schedule a tentative date you will lock in that price (Aceves- $8,750, Almaza- $8,900). Not trying to sway you just letting you know that way if you really wanted to go to Aceves but decided against it based solely on money you have all your facts in front of you. Your surgeon is entirely you choice though, so please don't feel like I am trying to get you to change your mind, I just realized that when they told me Almanza was $8,900 and thought of you.

Why did they tell me $8,900 then????? I even mentioned that I already had a cheaper doc than that and she went into this "well, yeah if you want to get your surgery for $4499......." At which point I corrected her and said the other doc was only a couple hundred cheaper! I am so confused! Why did I get a different price than you??

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
