Hi Guys!

I am a positive person and all I have wanted for so long is to get my sleeve. Suddenly today I seem to be an emotional mess. I am sad that food is not part of my life today as everyone is having cook outs and I am still on full liquids. I am nip picking everything my daughter does. I am tired of being in the house but not really feeling up to doing a lot either. What in the world is wrong with me? It is like extreme PMS but it is not that time! Just frustrated today!

It happens to all of us, these feelings will pass. It's hard to have surgery around holidays, just keep telling yourself you CAN Celebrate the next one with food, just try and enjoy the family and fireworks this time. You're close to mushy foods, it gets better from there. I am 4 weeks out and barely starting to eat soft regular foods again and it's great. I can have a small amount and be "Thanksgiving stuffed" and COMPLETELY satisfied. This is worth it, just get through the rough patch!

The whole holiday thing can get to you, but if you're only 10 days out, your body is still going through a lot. You have been pumped full of drugs, your body has been through the trauma of surgery. You will have down days and its perfectly normal. Hang in there it does get easier.

I'm still a new post op as well. My suggestion is to get out. Go walk around your neighborhood (It's HOT here in Austin so I go late at night). Go walk around Walmart (they have big aisles and are open late, and you can lean on the cart if your tummy is still sore like mine). Go to the mall. Go look at before/after photos. But for me getting out of the house lifts my mood. I rode with hubby to get crickets for his lizard earlier today... just get out of the house as much as possible.

As fat cells are burned hormones pour out- so we are all in for up and down mood swings for months to come! My doctor warned us at our seminar- even people who have never been depressed are likely to experience it. I agree that walking and exercising is a great help It is hot here today too but we will walk by the bay where it is cooler . I agree it is tough with all the barbecues and stuff but next year you will be able to eat a little bit of everything- and you will be thin!

I am feeling better now than earlier today! I went to the Vitamin Shop and walked around and went to my Mom's house for a bit. I am sure that helped. It is very Hot here today too but I am gonna take a short walk when the sun goes down.

Thanks for the support! It helps to know I am not alone in these feelings.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
