I had an appointment with the surgeon about 2 weeks ago, he needed a form faxed from my PCP, more blood work, and the results of my psych eval, then they would submit to the insurance company......check, check and check...and I waited, (not too patiently, sorry to say). Today I received a letter in the mail stating that my psychologist has recommended that I make an appointment with the nutritionist, and nothing will be submitted for approval until they get the report back. They said expect this to take at least 2 weeks or more. If I had known that was the case, I would have made the appointment 2 weeks ago!!! GRRR.....sorry, needed to vent...I am literally losing sleep over this! This stinks!!!!!!

I think losing sleep over the process is one of the prerequisites. Just keep in mind that as stressful as this process can be, it is going to change your life forever for the better. Hang in there and prove to them that you won't give up.

It is so frustrating I know! My surgery got pushed back an entire week because of my silly insurance company playing games. Just hang in there. The sleeve is so worth it!

I can completely empathize with your situation. I had an ongoing issue with my insurance that was only resolved on Tuesday, so I know how you feel.

It's hard to jump through the hoops, especially when they feel redundant or arbitrary, and it's hard to know you're stuck to the timetable of the insurance passing info back and forth with various doctors when you want to be on your OWN time table and have the surgery like yesterday already.

I can only tell you what others told me, which I didn't want to hear at that point but which I knew was true:

This too shall pass.

You can do it. Just hang in there. You're not alone - many if not all of us have been through it too.

*hugs*

BRYN IS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT Remember you are closer than your were before. Just hang in and on, this adventure is so worth it. Truly worth it and your surgery will be here and gone before you can blink. Just think, some people have to pay out of their pockets because of insurance, not to down play your circumstances, but it could be worst. The wait is horrible, the rewards life changling. WE are here for you!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
