Unable to feel nauseous after sleeve?

Recommended Posts

I have never felt nauseous since getting the sleeve, I thought I have just been real lucky and not gotten ill since my surgery. However today I have felt off all day,, dizzy, weak, heart pounding but I did not put much thought to it. Then tonight this pressure started in my stomach, I felt it contracting and so I thought well I will try to get sick and sure enough up came everything. The weird thing is I did not feel nausea, just pressure and contracting. Has anyone else lost the feeling of nausea from this surgery?

Out of curiosity...how has the weather been in Chicago? Has it been hot the last few days? Are you drinking enough? It almost sounds like you're getting an electrolyte imbalance.

The pressure and contracting after I eat is what I get if something doesn't agree with me. My tummy roils around enough I have to undo my pants. One time I threw up a bunch of slimy stuff for about 15 minutes, but every other time, the discomfort goes away within 10 minutes or so.

I felt the sudden "I' gonna heave" feeling twice in the week after surgery, but not since. My tummy feels "a bit off" most of the time anymore. I think it's still healing (surgery May 17 included a small hiatial hernia repair).

You know you maybe on to something there,, I had cramps in my feet when I work up that morning!

Last week, I ate something too fast and didn't feel my "full" signal and what you experienced happened to me. It wasn't nausea, but I had to expell whatever wasn't going into my stomach (and surprisingly that's all that came up, just that little bit).

Should I have felt nauseaus? I don't know. I've thrown up without nausea before surgery so it's hard to say that the sensation has been completely removed. But I have no problem interpreting what I am feeling as "something's coming up soon, get ready".

I havne't felt nausea since surgery but I can't say that I felt it much before surgery either.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
