An option for water

Recommended Posts

For a couple of years now, I have really liked having the Meijer brand Crystal Quenchers Water. They have different flavors like black cherry, kiwi strawberry, lime, grape, etc. No caffeine, No Sodium, No Calories. The only problem - it's carbonated.

Solution: shake the living daylights out of it so it goes flat!

And, it's not sweet like crystal light is.

Kellog has K20, which goes into a bottle of Water, has 5 Protein grams. they are good, but strong, I use half per bottle.

LOL! So if I shake 30 bottles, does that count as half an hour of exercise? ;)

I think I've seen those somewhere but don't remember where. Do they come in different flavors?

I love the flavored "seltzer waters" too. Problem is... I LOVE the bubbles. I know this sounds crazy but that is going to be the hardest thing for me to give up. I have even been know to drink plain seltzer water...

Khy - when I had my AGB the "burn" of the carbonation going down was the only thing I really missed enough to crave. I was already down to having caffeine free Diet Coke about once a week, so giving up soda was nothing. But wow, sometimes I just wanted a big chug of a freshly opened can just to get the sweet burn. :)

I craved it hard for about 3 weeks, then it went away. About 2 years post-op I sipped someone's, just to see if I still enjoyed it. I didn't. It hurt my throat, and the soda itself was extremely foul.

To date, the only soda type beverage I can stand is Fresca (I'm allowed sodas with my AGB, but still only have 1 or 2 a month).

After not drinking the carbonated beverages for a while, I have found I really don't like the carbonation. That's why I shake these waters - once they are flat, I really enjoy them. I just wish they would make them without the carbonation, but then how would I get my exercise in? LOL :)

I found the Kiwi strawberry in Walmart just walking around... online it says they have pink lemonade and tea as well, I think. I figure I'll keep an eye on them. I was able to use one of those and a scoop of Beneprotein in a bottle of Water today for 11 Protein. Woot.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
