Happy Birthday Girlfriend!!

I am glad you had popcorn. I was wondering about this myself, as I am going to the movies next weekend to see that new Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks movie and I would LOVE to have some!

My dietician said they put it on the no no list because it has a lot of Fiber in it and can cause a lot of gas. I am also not supposed to have Beans, but I do. Everything seems to give me gas anymore, so if I get gassy, OH WELL!

It is nice to know that it doesn't make people sick! I have not had any real issues with anything I have eaten this far, except chicken feeling stuck so hopefully I won't with the popcorn either! chicken works now tho!

I hope you had a fantastic day! Hugs!!

Happy Birthday Meggie! Hope you day was fantabulous! From the looks of your profile pic, you really know how to Celebrate :-) Here's to a great year and looking forward to seeing you at goal weight before your birthday next year!!

I'm glad you enjoyed the popcorn! I'm just a few days behind you, so you are almost always my bellwether, although our pre and post-op diets are very different. I've been mostly compliant on my diet, but I did discover that chocolate chips Cookies go down just fine. I baked some for my FIL last week and ate one small one per day for three days running. Thank goodness I didn't have access to them anyomre on day 4!!

My son loves popcorn as a snack. I get him the 100 calorie bags. Im six weeks out and I've had it. Although I haven't really had any complications either. Four days after surgery I was shopping so... I may not be the best gauge but if you can't hold on, realistically speaking, break the shell husk part off and eat the part without it.

Happy Birthday

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
