My port flipped

Recommended Posts

My port flipped and my doctor can not access it so I am stuck I have to get it fixed. If you can not access the port then the whole lap band

system will not work(if you can't fill it) Maybe your doctor can still fill yours?

I had my port restitched 3 weeks ago then went to the doctor for checkup,he told me it had flipped . The initial restitching was because port protruding, then when had restitched apparently the port stitches inside came unstitched and the port flipped. Now had re done 5 days ago, but notice port under the bandage then moved to about 2 inches above the bandage then later back under the bandage, has anyone else experienced this? my port is on my waist?I go back to my doctor in 2 weeks.

My port flipped and i had it fixed on Tues. 7-08-08. I went in as out

patient but, stayed over night. I had general anesthesia and was

so sick from it. I was banded in April so the surgeon went in the same

suture line for the port as when he put it in. It has been 2 and a half months and that incision was just healing so I am very sore. Iv'e lost 1 day from work. I hope this is the 1 and only complication I will have. I need to go back in 2 weeks to see the surgeon. My doctor keeps telling me this is a "work in progress" he believes in small fills about 9 in 1 year. He wants me to have all the benefits without being sick. He said I should be able to eat almost anything with the band just a lot less. I have lost 30 lbs. since April 16th, 08.

NurseRn you are doing well with your weightloss, hopefully our ports dont flip again, mine to was restitched over the old scars, and i too had the last op on the 7th/07/08. I am trying not to bend or stretch much but mine is on my waist, where is your port?

I went in for a fill and found out that my port had flipped. This thread has really eased my mind about my appointment on tuesday. Although this morning I bent over and felt it move and its been hurting some all day. I'm wondering if it flipped back or worse case flipped around the opposite way again.

I hope someone answers this becasue a few nights ago I woke up with terrible abdominal pain that went all the way to my back. I now notice that my port does not feel the way it has in the past. I go for my 1st fill next week.

That sounds like me!. I had really bad port pain for two weeks. Then nothing. A few days ago I felt terrible pain in my left side. Then nothing. I went for my fill today and the doctor couldn't access it at all. He looked under fluro and tried again. I was in the operating theatre for this and prepped for surgery. He found it had flipped 180. He went straight in and put it back!.. It took about an hour for mine. I had a local anasthetic.. not even twilight. I love to hear what is going on so it didn't bother me so much.

I hope your fill goes ok!.. Just be prepared IN CASE!!!..

It is a simple procedure.. I was home 25 mins after getting off of the table!.. no worries!! for me it was a piece of cake!!

I noticed the same type of pain about three days ago. I'm very concerned because it feels like my port is moving around. Normally its directly under my incision scar on my left side, now it moves above and to the side of it.... not normal.

I'm trying to find out if this is dire and requires immediate action (more due to the pain I'm in than the movement) because I'm self pay and I don't want to waste money and time going back to TJ if its not necessary. Any thougths?

maybe you could try your fill doctor. Have him check it under 'fluro' at least he will know if it is accessible. My doctor did an xray and fluro.. he couldn't see my port in the correct position at all. Which is why he immediately opened me up and moved it.

hope that helps. no point in the band being adjustable if they can't adjust it!

My port flipped - I didn't feel any pain and didn't know there was a problem until I went to get my first fill. I had to have surgery to correct it. Wasn't too bad. I had the surgery a week ago.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
