Pre-op diet vs No Pre-op DIet

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone:

Here are my stats:

Preop Diet Weight 4/24: 364.4

Day of Surgery 5/4: 333.6

Weight Loss Pre Op: 33 pounds

One Month Dr's Visit 6/3: 314.8

18.8 pounds since the surgery

Total Loss: 51.8 pounds.

I am waiting for the stall to come anytime. It is amazing I am like Meggie I have to set my phone to eat or I will just keep on going. This is amazing for me. The one thing that really bothers me on this surgery all the drs have different ways of thinking about the diet stages. My dr. has me on the pureed stage for till July 8. Is there a rime or reason for this or is he being more careful than ususally because of the weight I need to lose. I think the next time I see him I will ask him. I am glad everyone is doing so well. Till next time.

I totally agree with doing this. That's why I always have 3 sets of starting numbers. My highest, My pre-op diet starting weight and my surgery weight. We own them all!! :D

So in totals, my Sleeve Journey totals are I'm down 89 Lbs - but from my highest I'm down 138 Lbs. Whoot!! I started my Pre Op Diet Sept. 1st so I lost that 89 in 9 months. Around 10 Lbs per month average. Not bad! That's exactly where I wanted to be and how I wanted to do it.

AMEN, we own them ALL!!! Sadly, my high weight was my pre-op weight, then I went on a low carb diet for a week and lost 10 pounds. For the life of me, I can't remember how much I lost the first couple weeks, so I can't help you there Meggie! sorry. I wish I would have documented better.sad.gif

This is very interesting!smile.gif

Bummuh to hear. I have been dieting and will likely have about 30lbs off before I do the 9 day pre op liquid diet. I suspect I should be 35-40lbs down on DOS. I don't want to hear that it could cause me to lose less at first. Wahhhhhhh.

No, really, that just puts a bee in my bonnet, so I'm going to prove y'all wrong and still lose big the first month post op.

Now.....off I go to rub some budduh belly, toss a penny in a well, click my red shoes 3 times and throw some salt or whatever else I can think of.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
