Revision in the morning!!!

Recommended Posts

Just trying to relax here in my hotel room. Suprisingly, I am not too nervous, just hoping to not be in too much pain when I wake up.

Had my preop testing completed this afternoon and the driver will be picking my husband and I up at 7 tomorrow morning to take us to meet w/Dr. Aceves before surgery. Prayers are welcomed and please make room for me on the looser's bench!

Much love,

erika

I will say a prayer for you but I know you won't need it! I had my lap band surgery in MX in 2010 but I am having my revision to sleeve here in FL. I had such a good experience in MX and was amazed at the hospital/doctor but didn't want the hassle of traveling with this surgery as I live in FL and it took forever to get to TJ. Anyway, good luck and let us know how you make out. I am scheduled for 6/17!

Hi,

Good luck and well wishes being sent. Dr Aceves did my revision 3 months ago and was very surprised that I had almost no pain. I am a baby and my lap band surgery was awful, it was done in Florida. Now the guy who had his sleeve done before me was sicker than a dog but he also smoked so I don't know if that was some of the reason.

They were very good to me and I am sure they will be to you too.

Erica I felt really bad that I was on the phone when you called. If it had been anyone else, i would have told them I was going to need to call them back. This person and I have been trying to connect for a week playing phone tag.

I can't wait to hear updates. We are going to call the hospital and see how you're doing. If you feel good enough, maybe we can come by tomorrow instead of wednesday. Just let me know how you're feeling.

Please feel free to call me too if you get bored in your room. I was bored a lot with most of the channels on tv in spanish.

Thank you SO much for all your prayers and well wishes. everything went great. There was a fair amount of scar tissue that was removed without a problem and then he

Sleeved meq :). I am not having any nausea and the pain is manageable...my lap band hurt so much more. I have some gas bubbles that can take my breath away

For a moment...but other than that I just feel like I got punched in the gut. I am so thrilled to get to have something to drink tomorrow.. I AM SO THIRSTY!!

I am quite tired and doze off an on, in fact I need to do that now.

thanks SO much everyone...much love,

Erika

P.S. No worries Denise...;)

Sounds like you made it through with flying colors! Dr A and his group are so fantastic, glad to hear you also had a good experience there. I remember my pain wasn't too bad (but they kept me REALLY drugged up) except for that stupid drain. And the breathing exercises!!!! Every day gets better after this :-)

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
