We are all on the same road, but all of our journeys will be different. Some of us will get to goal in months flat with the greatest of ease, some of us will take years and endure many struggles (I'm in this group... :P )... BUT one thing is common. We have all had some successes, some huge some we are still working on. I'm looking for those of us who Celebrate EVERY SINGLE VICTORY. scale or Non Scale.

What are the top three things in your journey so far PRE or POST op that you have found have given you the greatest satisfaction?

Mine are:

3. Overcoming my fears and doubts and GETTING MY SLEEVE!!!

2. Running my first 5K... and yes RUNNING THE WHOLE DANGED THING!!!

1. Reaching Onederland.

There are sooo many more, but wanted to keep this short but sweet. I'm looking forward to hearing about all your most cherished moments!!! xoxo :)

Great thread -- love the positivity :)

3. Being in "normal sized" clothes for the first time in 26 years . . .

2. Feeling normal when I'm at a party or out shopping (no one gives me "god, she's huge" looks anymore)

1. Liking the person I see in the mirror :)

Awesome!!! You've done so amazing, you have so much to be positive about!!

I hear you on #2 - in fact just yesterday in a meeting it dawned on me that I'm not the biggest chick in my office group anymore. In fact I'm not even second... I'm even running a close third and the other gal is normal sized. Whoootttt!!

KEEP EM COMING!!!

Love this!! I have so many already and just a lil over a wk post-op but heres a few:

1: the courage to finally be sleeved

2: having a normal blood glucose reading already, in fact while still at the hospital

3: already needing smaller size clothes this early out

4: my confidence and self-esteem have already improved

5: getting over my flying phobia!!

Great idea Diva...

Gonna join in on this one!

1, my hubby and both kids can put their arms around me and touch hands... I love this feeling;

2. being able to go boxing and actually enjoy it! My coach said to me last night 'Bloody 'ell girl, you've come on lovely. Look how strong your core is now!';

3. feeling an improvement in my confidence and self - esteem.

I live in a country full of small, sporty, skinny people. Yesterday at a work meeting, I was not the biggest woman in the room. I was also not even the SECOND biggest woman in the room. THAT was absolutely astounding, in the best way. :)

Great thread!

1) Being able to do different exercise classes in my local gym and LOVING it rather than just going on the bike/treadmill/crosstrainer so boring!

2) Not being "scared" to look at myself in the mirror anymore and actually liking what I see when I do

3) Being able to shop for clothes that I like, rather than just chosing stuff that I can find in my size and will cover me up :P

My three best (although there are lots more, these were the first things off the top of my head)

1. Having more energy to do the things I love

2. Wearing cuter clothes

3. Not having a double chin anymore!

Love this list, Irene!

For me, my top three are:

1.) Being able to move more freely and exercise! This one is HUGE! I used to get out of breath just walking!

2.) Being able to buy cute clothes in a store that is NOT Lane Bryant.

3) Feeling like it is possible to get to a healthy weight and maintain it.

Love it!

1) Being able to cross my legs- I feel so girly!

2) Having lots of energy to play with my three-year-old dynaMO- her name is Morgan and she's FULL of energy so we call her

DynaMO. :P

3) Being taken more seriously in a professional capacity- I swear I'm moving up in my career as the pounds drop. I'm hoping it has more to do with my new-found confidence and not something as ugly as weight discrimination.

I wonder about this... a lot ... since I have lost my weight, I defo get spoken to differently in work - I am a teacher - my pupils are different towards me and so are the staff. Since the start of the academic year, Sept, I have been asked in on more meetings, given more responsibility (no extra wage thoug!!) and asked my opinions a lot more. Part of me thinks that it is the fact that I am a little smaller and not seen as that 'lazy fat one', the other part of me thinks that is it because I have been at the same school for some years and they have now realised my ability ...? Tough one isn't it??

But on a positive note... lets put it down to my new found energy, passion and love of life!!! =]

Very interesting, and I didn't even think about it really until Coops, you mentioned the whole being asked into more meetings. My first thought was, "well not really because I received all my promotions while I was still very large". But... in thinking more about it I have recently begun to be asked in much more meetings, especially ones where our Director is present and I'm the one dishing out answers and suggestions to him personally. That's actually really huge where I work! I was never asked to do this before. I'm also really given free range to run my desk how I see fit and my Manager really asks a lot from me. You know how managers are, they really just look to their best workers to make themselves look good and know what their doing, aside from it being true or not... ;)

Anyway, I think maybe there is a little bit of truth to this. I think maybe its a little bit of both, in that we are feeling more confident AND we "look" the part too. Exactly stated as Coops put it "the lazy fat one".

ETA: Just to give a little history, really I haven't changed anything in how I perform my job. I've been doing what I do for almost 4 years now. I know what I'm doing, I just feel like all of a sudden I'm being taken much more seriously. Sad, but true.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
