How long does a stall usually last??

Recommended Posts

I've been at a stall for over 2 weeks now!!! WTH!!! How do I get out of this? I'm 8 weeks out and on solid foods, but I still can't eat nearly as much as before surgery, only about 1/4 so why the stall?? Anybody else had this happen? How discouraging..

Stalls are apart of the process. Just put stall into the search feature and you will see. I normally stall every 10 pounds or so for about 2 weeks. Kick up the Protein, Water, and workout. Have a cheat day and dont stress

We all go through it and get discouraged. But then we also GET through it and keep losing and you will too. Just hang in there! I agree with ATLgirl, increase the Protein, Water, and exercise and things

are bound to change. ( I even eat food with a little more fat in it and it seems to help).GOOD LUCK!

It's not a stall unless you haven't lost any pounds or inches for a minimum of 14 days. Take your measurements as well. I've seen the dreaded stalls last up to 6 weeks for some, and then those same people report that they lost several pounds in one week. Just stay the course, push clear fluids, and Protein. You'll break the stall, and know that about 95% of WLS patients (regardless of surgery type) experience stalls.

I've found that if i don't eat enough Protein I will go into a stall. At week 4-5 I was on a stall but luckily didn't gain any weight. I also found during these times that it is necessary to increase exercising. Good luck to you!

I have hit 3 stalls now since i had surgery on Feb 28. They are very discouraging! So far, I haven't gained during my stalls, but just didn't loose any weight. However, I did loose inches during all 3 of my stalls.

The best way I found to break the stalls is to increase my exercise a bit, take in a little more Protein, and make sure to drink all of my Water. It usually works!

Hang in there and know that we all experience them! They seem to be part of the process!!

Thanks for the encouragement and advice. I haven't gained an ounce, but also haven't lost either. I started going to the gym and I do make sure I eat alot of Proteins first, as well as salads. So hopefully, somthing will give and the scale will start moving down again. ;)

Yeah there's no rhyme or reason to stalls and they can last a few days or wks but don't get discouraged! They happen to us all, we just gotta keep on doing the right things. Good luck, I hope it breaks soon!

:)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
