Ok, some questions here that have been bothering me:

1. Why do they advertise pizza on a weight loss website/forum?

2. Why do hospitals require you to shower with the stinkiest soap ever?

3. How long is the average stay on the various levels of the post-op diet? Like how long on liquids? Mushies?

Some of the questions seem silly, but I am staring to get nervous about Thursday. I am getting stuff ready for the brat child to go with a friend tomorrow after school for the night, getting stuff ready for me to take to my mom's and then the hospital, afraid the hubby won't come to the hospital to see me ( I was told to plan to stay 2-3 mights), afraid I might get told that the weight I have lost is enough to prevent the surgery, afraid I could end up with the severe headache I had yesterday when I went to liquids (had to eat to get it to go away, but don't have to restrict myself until tomorrow), etc etc etc. I could some up with more, but am freaking myself out more.

Anyway, if someone has any answers, etc I would love something...

Thanks biggrin.giflaugh.gifdrum.gif

Ok, some questions here that have been bothering me:

1. Why do they advertise pizza on a weight loss website/forum? The ads are random, I get food ones, dating sites and some wls ones. I just ignore them ads pay for the site to be free.

2. Why do hospitals require you to shower with the stinkiest soap ever? Its cheap best bet pack your own favourite soap.

3. How long is the average stay on the various levels of the post-op diet? Like how long on liquids? Mushies? This varies from doctor to doctor. You should check with your doc or nut and see what they recommend. I personally was on a 10 day clear liquid and then another 10 days full liquids. I was ready to move onto mushies after those 20 days!!!

I think most everyone had some form of a melt down prior to surgery.

Anyway, if someone has any answers, etc I would love something... Hope I answered your questions.

If you have any more questions please feel free to ask away. There has to be someone here who will be able to answer your questions sufficiently.

Sending my best wishes on a speedy and painfree recovery for you.

1. random

2. money of course

3. I had 3 days of Clear Liquids now have 18 days of thin liquids and then probably a week or two of full liquids followed by two weeks at least of mushies. The reason that it is not exact is the doctor will decide more finally at my two weeks followup. It will most likely be 8 weeks from surgery until I eat solid food.

I am sad that everyone seems to think the reason for the shower soap smelling bad relates to money.

In truth, and speaking as a Surgical Technologist with 17 years of experience scrubbing on procedures from Hysterectomies to Craniectomies to Tonsillectomies to Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms to Face Lifts to Cataracts, the reason they have you shower with a specific soap is it's antiseptic abilities. The reason it smells bad? In order to kill bacteria and the like, it takes chemicals. Safe chemicals. Some of the soaps have simple chemicals like rubbing alcohol in them. There is nothing that will harm the skin, if it did, we wouldn't be using them in the OR. Cleanliness may be next to Godliness, but nobody said it had to smell like Heaven!

I use Firefox to view the forums on my computer - which has ad block plus installed in it, so I don't get to see the advertisements. :) When I use my iPad, I also do not get the ads - nor the signatures to people's posts. If the ads really bother you, try changing web browsers and use ad block plus. Yeah, I know the ads pay for the site to be free, but I find them really annoying, so I use tech to block them whenever possible.

Thanks for the answers. I am just going through the nerves. i am currently on the train into Dallas to go to my mom's and am trying to focus on school work that I will be behind in after the surgery. I think I will still be nervous tomorrow at 6 am when I get to the hospital.

I asked about the soap because I thought I smelled like the flea soap I use on my dogs, lol. I know it is the antibacterial soap, etc. i think it does wonders, it just stinks. Oh well, the hubby didn't notice it yesterday, so I guess I am good.

Here's to nerves and one more day until I get onto the loser's bench. ( I think this is teh first time I can ever say that and not feel bad.)

I love that you thought it smelled like flea soap.

I am nine days out, feeling REALLY GOOD. The first few days at home were a bit rough, but allow yourself time to get used to the HUGE CHANGE!!!!

Good luck tomorrow!

Patti

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
