How much weight did everyone lose?

Recommended Posts

HEY EVERYONE! im getting sleeved on friday the 20th in NYC and i have two questions! If anyone could help that would be great. My first question is if it's bad to do some type of cardio exercise everyday? I mean my doctor just said a 3-5 times a week but id be really willing to run or jog everyday because it's the summer, and i'm pretty much free!

Also how much did everyone lose in their first three months? At the end of the summer im going to europe and i just wanna know roughly how much wight id lose? Im 5'7 and i weigh 275 now and i have to lose 5 more pounds before friday (which, surprisingly, im not too worried about!). I know everyone is different with losing weight but i was just hoping to get an estimate! thanks so much! =D Im just SOOOOOOO excited that all of this is happening. I've waited such a long time and im extremely happy!

I don't think it's a bad idea at all to do cardio everyday, though I suppose it depends on your definition of cardio. Moderate exercise is good. I say go for it, if your joints and energy level will let you.

As for weight loss after 3 months, I am a lightweight and my surgery weight was 232. I lost 40 lbs in three months, you probably will lose more. There was a post-op calculator on OH that I bookmarked, you might want to check it out: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/information/post+op+planner.php

My doc told me: "exercise as much as possible, and eat as few calories as possible." He's probably not the norm, but I don't think it will hurt to do cardio every day if you want to. I would NOT, however, lift weights for the first three months as there can be a risk of hernia doing that. I can't remember exactly what I'd lost in the first 3 months, but I think I was at 50 lbs lost at that point. Hope that helps!

I started at a higher weight and I have 1 week to go to my 3rd month but so far since my surgery I have lost 50 lbs (I lost 16 lbs on my one week pre op diet which would make that 66 lbs lost total). This is my weight as of last week because I weigh (for recording) myself on Mondays (and that is tomorrow). I have not started exercising yet I was waiting for my 3rd month.

I'm 5 weeks tomorrow and so far I've lost 35lbs to date. My doctor recommends that you do at least 30 to 45 minutes of exercise daily. I'm doing cardio or strength training daily as I think it's really helping with the weight loss. Good luck to you!

Hi, I am 5'2 1/2" and was 200lbs on the day of my surgery I averaged a little more then 10lbs a month the first five months. I started walking the first week but did not go out until I was a month out. I am now walking 7 miles a day five days a week. My body needs one day off a week to prevent injuries but that may be just me.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
