Will the sleeve really help me with hunger control?

Recommended Posts

Hubby and are both sleeved and we do not experience true hunger ever! (I'm 7 months post-op and hubby is almost 3 months out.) I agree with Tiffy...food is still appealing and of course head-hunger. But the absence of true hunger is such a wonderful gift...love it.

I know of several sleevers who still experience true hunger, so it's not a 100% guarantee that you will lose it. GOOD LUCK!

I do not have hunger and I used to be one of those eat till I am stuffed and still be hungry type of person. I now eat healthy food choices to make sure I get in my required Proteins, carbs and fats. Before surgery I had problems with certain foods and so far I still have the same problems (tells me it is intestinal and not my stomach). Plus I have gained a few sensitivites as in when I try sugary things my stomach gets very uncomfortable queezy. So I just avoid them. Same goes for chips ( I tried some at a party awhile back) they went down but my tummy got very queezy so I will avoid those as well. The head hunger is sometimes present but mostly I forget I have to eat until I start feeling this "empty" feeling. Then I make sure I get something in me.

Hope the sleeve resolves your hunger as I have heard a small percentage of the sleevers still have hunger.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
