How often do you go to the gym?

Recommended Posts

Hey peeps!

I usually go try to go to the gym 3 times a week for at least 45 to 55 minutes. This week I went 4 times and I intend on going again today. I usually do the treadmill or eliptical for at least 40 minutes and I sometimes work on my arms, I haven't been cleared for abs or anything of that nature so I try to take it easy. My doctor told me I could do light weights right now, but I really want to focus on my upper body now, does anyone have any suggestions????

I am almost 5 months out and I go Tues-Friday. I do cardio for about 20-25 minutes and then I work on my legs or arms. On Mondays I walk/jog. On the weekends, I try to make it to the track for walking/jogging but I do not always get to go.

Try the site www.exrx.net

Gives you exercises of all body parts and other routines. I swear by it and give my patients this website address. I like to do arms, chest and back on same day to get a nice complete upper body workout and to get that extra stabilization, use free weights.

Oh, and try the row machine, love love love

I go 4 or 5 times a week, I swim for 90 minutes M-W-F and walk, stationary bike and some resistance training Tu-Th. We've got an excellent senior wellness center in my town and it's only $20 a year for as much as you want, full indoor track, dozen weight training machines, lap pool and a therapy pool. It's been just what I need.

That sounds awesome. I have gym membership at my university for free, well not for free cause I pay tuition lol but I am in walking distance from it so I usually get a walk in before I hit the gym. Working out is so awesome.

Pre-op I went 3 times a week on average. I haven't been back to the gym yet as I'm only just over 2 weeks out but I'm really jonesing to get back in there. I'm going to try the treadmill this weekend :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
