Hey Sunta!! I was just alerted to your check in. Just that you check in makes you a good club member. Maybe not gold star...LOL joking. I don't have other stats for you though. Come back and give me your highest, goal, surgery, and current weight. :) that way I can put them up with your total.

I've been drinking these off and on for a few years and I'm going to incorporate this into my pre-op diet. When I drink these for Breakfast and eat a healthy diet I usually have no trouble losing some weight. I just can't make myself do it long enough to add up. I absolutely love these smoothies though and they really do taste like a treat. My only problem is that I usually make so much I'm going to have to cut it by 3/4 after banding or it will just go to waste!

8th Continent light vanilla soymilk

vanilla flavored soy Protein powder - whatever kind I can get at Walmart

frozen fruit - strawberries, blueberries and peaches are my favorite - just a few of each

banana

some splenda if needed

Blend away! The frozen fruit and banana give it a great thickness and MAN is it good! You can use any amounts or combinations of ingredients you wish to make it your way.

Diane - I'm going to have to look for that brand on my next visit to Kansas City. It's hard to find one that's really good tasting and they're so expensive I hate to experiment to find one I like - so I'm glad to have your recommendation!

Amy - I do love the soup! I'm wondering when I can add that in my diet after banding. I'm thinking if I blend it maybe during the full liquid phase...? Sounds like you're all set. I got some Vitamins the other day too, and they're Flintstone's! I'm trying to buy up stuff I'll need like that so I don't have to buy it all at once.

I'll check back in with everyone later - take care all!

Andy Liz

Just a thought...

Stitches in outer skin are ready to come out in 7 days. I would imagine quite a bit of healing goes on in that first week.

Hey,

Just checking in! Down to 218 but I know I need a fill. I am beginning to eat more and am hungrier between meals. So I called the surgeon's office only to be told they only do fills once a month under fluro at the hospital. I am scheduled for August 9th but I am scared my weight loss will slow down. I have lost approximately 50lbs from my highest weight(268) in about 3 months(since 4/11/06), so I am not disappointed. I am exercising but I am going to step it up and hope to remain the same weight or lose. I enjoy reading the posts! This is the best support group and a great bunch of people!!

Take care all.

I am so grateful to LapBandTalk and the Gone for Good Club.

I was 450 on March 15, 2006, when I learned that I needed to lose 100 lbs to remove a tumor on my leg. I joined Memorial Bariatric Center and started eating as if I was already living with a lap-band. I'm down to 385 (-65 lbs).

How my life has changed:

Ø I changed the bed without taking rest periods for the first time in two years.

Ø I'm able to stand longer.

Ø As the fat melts around the tumor, I’m guessing it only weights 25 lbs now – but all rock.

Ø My healthy Protein Drinks are now stored in glass canisters instead of those large plastic things they arrive in. I swear, it has me toying with opening a health food store in my small town. Frozen blueberries are sooo good, too.

Ø My energy level is so good, that I am cleaning and organizing the house like it has never been done before.

Ø I’ve started my Christmas shopping and have half done.

Ø At my rate I should be 300 by December (19 lbs a month is what I’ve been doing).

Ø I can join the local wellness center at 300 lbs.

Life is Good!!

Telly you look awesome, I had to turn my husband to quit gaulking.

You do look great.

Amy, I tried the pudding today and it didn't work. It made that tightness in my chest and stuff like right after surgery. I guess I'll try another week of fluids.

Only thing is you can only get about 400 calories a day of fluids and then our bodies will go into starvation. Oh pooh, what's a person to do.

I also called Tracy tonight but didn't get ahold of her.

I also called your cell tonight but didn't get you either.

Talk to you later

Iziksmom and Posterchild - Welcome back!! I will update your numbers now. Good to see things are still on the downward trend. :)

Jan.barnett - that is exactly what I needed!! Thanks a bunch!

Joyce - You are doing SO AWESOME!! What a will you have!

Tricia - I love your av :) Scheckshy girl lol

Sherri - I did pudding this morning mixed with some milk to thin it out. it was soooo good. We were driving back from Georgia from picking up the kids. I was very limited in my choices, so I am glad it went well. I am not sure why you got that tight feeling. Might still be swollen. I ate about a 1/4 cup (2 oz) and took about 15 minutes to eat that. It went down fine and was very yummy. later today I am going to have some cream of chicken Soup, strained, and see how it goes. I am going to make it really thin. Anything is better than broth. LOL Sorry i didn't get your call. I didn't get a message...you silly. You have to leave one! LOL

Jan.Barnett - One other thing. If your high is 318, and you are currently 218 then you have lost 100, not 93. Are the weights correct, and you have been counting down from your surgery date? We count from the highest because every pound is important. :) Let me know so that I can make sure your numbers are correct on the board. Thank you so much!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
