Can anyone describe the feeling of restriction?

Recommended Posts

"One bite too many" - I'd say it's impossible to over eat. You can get Thanksgiving full (that's what I call it) and be uncomfortable, but you cannot keep on going. I've never gotten sick, but you would. I have been uncomfortable. You can of course eat around the sleeve. You can eat junk or drink your calories, this is not a fix all, but it is the wonderful if you do what you are suppose to do. If you need forced Portion Control, you'll do great!

Hi! One of the reasons I think I'll do well with the sleeve is the element of restriction. When I don't feel good, I don't eat. That said, I'm wondering if any one can describe that feeling. Is it uncomfortable? Hurt? Tight? Just feel overfull? Feel like you're going to vomit?

And just HOW powerful is the feeling? Could you theoretically "push" through the pain or is it really bad?

Thank you for any insight you can provide!

Ann

I can't eat just one more bite because it tastes good like I used to. There is no stretch. If I eat one more bite, then I suddenly feel it sitting there on top of my stomach and I start salivating and have to throw up. Usually only that one bite comes up, so it's not like being sick and vomiting. I also get that same feeling if I eat potatoes or bread to fast or too large of bites, even when not full. It can even be the first bite. I still have to wait about half an hour to try and eat again. Unfortunately, if I wait an hour, I can eat another couple of bites, even though I am not hungry, but only a couple of bites. I think we ate almost every hour while on our cruise, major grazing, very bad. I can't drink for about a half hour after I eat so it's no problem there. I can take about 3-4 large swallows of liquid when thirsty on an empty stomach, then feel full. Don't wait until your thirsty to drink. If I do that, I get full before my thirst is satiated. And NO you can't push through it, but you learn what foods are easier to eat more, and you can graze.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
