Can anyone else eat a good amount of food at a month out??

Recommended Posts

I ate shrimp yesterday off the grill. I had a big Mother's Day dinner at my house with about 20 people. I cooked crabs and spaghetti and my uncle grilled shrimp. Over an hour I ate AT LEAST 12-14 Shrimp(thats all I was eating). I was drinking pretty normally as well. Then I had watermelon afterwards which I can eat a lot of that as well. I was obviously not in trying mode. I have been sticking to all protiens but staying with eggs, had some cheese, thin sliced roast beef, chicken in the slow cooker. I did go out to eat twice and regular grilled chicken will fill me up quick...maybe 4-6 oz.(and not that full....I stop myself) but the other stuff seems like I can eat quite a bit and I basically stop before I am full(except the shrimp yesterday.) I see people who cant even eat a half of egg. I can eat two in the morning at my tightest time with NO PROBLEM. I guess i just have a bigger stomach than most...which annoys me!!!

Those that have been following my post know Im frustrated and stalled. Yesterday I thought it might have been over. I was down like 4 pounds. Today....right back up!! I did not eat and drink 4 pounds yesterday!!!!!! Focusing on protiens today and see if i can get some exercise in this afternoon!!!

Your posts just make me mad... why did you have this surgery if you have no intention of following any rules? It isn't magic, and it doesn't work if you are going to constantly find ways to be non-compliant.

Measure your food, stick to what is allowed, eat low carb and it will work. I had my surgery @ 270, and in 9 weeks I am down to 225. I did it by following the rules, measuring my food, and eating low carb.

It seems to me like you are just looking for people to validate your cheating and give you hope that it will somehow start to work.

Ive been staying below 60-70 carbs a day for 2 weeks. I have all my protien and almost all my Water. I followed my food steps and am a month out where I am supposed to start introducing regular food. I eat under 1000 calories a day. Sorry if i make you mad by asking if other people can eat a lot. im just curious. My heaviest weight was 369....I weigh 247. Thats 122 pounds. Im no stranger to weight loss. I got rid of the band because of issues and got a revision. Not trying to cheat it but wondering if i am not alone in being able to eat more than anyone else. I was under 1000 calories yesterday and at 40 some carbs.

Definitely eating over a hour of time is a way to allow the food time to get out of your stomach thereby making room for more. That's grazing and it will get you into trouble. It would have been better if you took your 4 oz of shrimp and sat down and ate them and let that fill you up, that's using the tool. That way you are filled up on Protein and it will last. Also you need to not be drinking while you eat or 30 mins after. That also helps the food move through your tool quicker and therefore you feel hungry quicker.

What you are doing is finding the ways around the sleeve. It's your choice, use the sleeve or cheat the sleeve. However, I will say, at 1 month out I'm experiementing too. I want to know what I can and can't do so that when I do go out to eat, I don't get into trouble. But its ultimately a choice we have to make.

BTW...each shrimp was around 5-8 calories. 2 cups of watermelon throughout the day is around 200 calories and 20 carbs. 2 eggs is 140 calories. The meat I ate had 200 calories. I know what im eating...

I admitted I wasnt trying yesterday...I know what I did wrong. See my previous post about calories...etc.

Hip, I didn't mean to say you are right or wrong, just stating the facts. And I have just started solids too and I find that I'm experiementing to see what I can eat and what I can't and just how much. We had a party on Sat night and I tried bagel dip, I was terrified of eating the bread (pretzel bagels) but I wanted to see how I tolerated it. I was fine. so I pushed it and ate more than I wanted just to "test it out" so I understand that you want to see what you can get away with and what you can't. But once I tested it, I knew I ate too much and I know I don't want to do it again, even though I can.

Hip... I don't really know how to answer your question and i'd like to help. Here's the deal. I don't know if you are able to eat more because of the time frames in which you list. If I sat down for an hour I'd have no problems eating what you are listing. But within the time frame I have my meals i'm full after a couple onces.

Here is what I ate yesterday.... maybe this will help you compare. I'm 10 weeks post op today and I lose 2-3 lbs per week with only one stall that lasted a week.

Breakfast - 30 gram Protein shake = 160 cal.

lunch - 2 slices of turkey rolled up with about a 1/4 slice cheese = about 75 cal

snack - One 120 cal pack of organic beef Jerky = 120

dinner - 1/2 smoked chicken breast = approx 142 cals

Snack -40 pistachios = 80 cals

Special Mothers Day Treat, One glass of white wine = 80 cals.

Total Calories 657 had it not been for the wine I would have consumed no carbs.

I always drink at least 100 onces of Water per day in some form or shape.

I swam laps for 30 minutes and did light weight training for another 30 minutes

I'm not sure what else to tell you. You keep telling everyone you know what you are doing so i'm not sure what you are hoping to read. Lets face it If I wanted to I could suck on a Milkshake all day long and not lose an once. I just think you need to measure and regulate the amount of time you allow yourself to eat.

I usually eat at set times...especially during the week. I eat 4-5 oz each time....usually chicken, crabmet, eggs, etc. After 4 oz I dont really feel full at all.The only time I felt full with 4-5 oz was when I had grilled chicken. Like I said...for Breakfast I can eat 2 eggs with no problem at all. Its dosnt take long either...I dont have to nibble on them to get the down...I can eat fairly normal. I see people posting they cant even eat one egg.

TO MAKE IT CLEAR.......I ATE THAT WAY ONE TIME!!! Just ONCE. My question is about amounts at a normal meal.

Ill make my question more basic...

Can anyone eat two eggs with no problem? Can anyone eat 6 oz of chicken and not feel full at all?

So 2 slices of turkey and 1/4 slice of cheese makes you feel physically satisifed? Like your belly is maybe not full but you feel like it is what you can eat? This is why I am asking. I could probably eat 5 times that if i wanted to with no problem. I eat pretty normally(not super slow) which also I can see most people cannot do. This is obviously out of curiosity because surgery is done and I cant change the outcome of the surgery.

Okay, no, I don't eat 2 eggs. I eat 1 egg for breakfast and I'm satisfied. Then about 2-3 hrs later I'll have some greek yogurt (not really because I'm hungry but I need to get the protein) I eat about 2 tbsp of it. I have not tried chicken yet.

Even with the Band Ive had head hunger issues. I dont get that hungry but usually eat at certain times. I was told 5-6 small meals a day. I just ate a hard boiled egg and 3.5 oz of chicken. I feel satisfied. Seems most eat 3 meals and two Snacks.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
