Suggestions for breaking a stall????

Recommended Posts

I am currently going from 269 to 270 and it's been that way for almost 2 weeks. I hate it! I really need some advice. What are some good ways to help break a stall? Does Protein intake help break it? Any advice would be helpful!!! Thank you.

Hi Candace,

The best way I find to break a stall is to make an adjustment somewhere. I know my body can become complacent sometimes. Now, I'm only talking if I stall for more than 3 weeks and I'm really doing all the right things too.

Upping Protein, getting more Water in (flushing), doing super low carbs for about 3-5 days, upping exercise, changing exercise routine or type... all of these things help me break a stall.

Now, you can also keep a food journal to find any little culprits might be hanging around. I once found out I was "grazing" more than I should. So, I stopped and started losing again.

Good luck! I'm sure there will be lots more to chime in...

I found out quickly that for me it's all about the protein! If I don't get enough in I won't lose!

When my weight gets to a standstill I mix it up by having a "cheat day." The increase (not over doing it) of carbs, fat, and calories for my body revs it up for my next round of weightloss. Since I always eat few carbs (less than 50 per day...) and hardly no fat, that's my shake up. On the flip side, it you haven;t been eating "right" but want to start as a way to shake up with your weightloss try eating Protein and veggies only for a few days (and drinking only water). Don't worry about the calories but focus on getting at least 100 grams of protein (string cheese is a great protein snack, fish is packed with as much as 35g per serving, and subbing milk for soda adds 8g per serving). Eating protein and veggies sends the message to your body to burn fat not muscles, kicking it into overdrive. At least this is what has helped me.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
