Can I count SF Popsicles as fluid?

Recommended Posts

So I was sleeved on last friday this is my first full day home. I've been awake for about 6ish hours and have gotten in almost 32oz of Water (go me!biggrin.gif) Plus an 8oz Protein Drink, my lunch is warming up now (potato Soup w/ Protein powder) I just ate a popscilcel and it occured to me. Do I count that as food or fluids? And how much fluids?

Thanks.

I thought I would feel incredibly different like something was missing after surgery but I feel pretty normal other than the occasional painful air bubble from not waiting for a sip of water to settle before taking another sip. And the surgical pains...

welcome home!! Glad to hear you are doing well!! I never really count the popcicles as Fluid, but I suppose if they melt they would turn to liguid and I was told that anything left sitting out that turns to liquid counts as liquid.

Congratulations on being sleeved and feeling normal -- that's fabulous after any surgery! Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Anything that passes through a seive is considered a full liquid...so yeah it passed through the sieve it's allowed.

hmmm....I was told no potato Soup. Did your doctor give you clearance for that?

Yeah, I'm 8 days out and just started full liquids today. I was given specific things to avoid on the full liquid phase and potato Soup was one of them..even strained. Gotta love how the diets are so different!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
