22lbs down, 3 weeks post op on Monday- I feel so great!

Recommended Posts

Hello Guys,

I had Surgery on April 4, 2011 and so far it's been a pretty good experience. Since I had been doing so well, I was told that I could go ahead and start eating this weekend. So far, so good. I have been terrified though, like I keep thinking maybe my tummy will burst or something. Since I've started eating I've actually lost 2lbs. I've increased my Water intake tremendously and I haven't felt the sensation of feeling full (which is scary as well), I think I'm under eating but I'd rather do that than over eat so that's what I'm going to stick with and try to get in as much Protein as possible. I never thought that veggies would taste so good, neither did I think mash potatoes would taste so good. I am glad that the food is back, but I still drink the Isopure protein water and the special K protein water (just so I can make sure I try and get enough protein). Tomorrow I intend to get Biotin to make sure my hair stays thick and healthy. But anywho, has anyone else gone through the whole not feeling full thing? I hope that you all are doing well and that you are enjoying life! Happy Early Easter!

P.S. Oh yeah, all my pants are skinny jeans, well now they don't look skinny anywhere but around my ankles..... I have no butt and my skinny jeans are falling off every chance they get. It's like the area where my butt once was, looks so saggy like, I can't describe it right- you'd just have to see for yourselves! lol

I had a hard time to feel full at first too, but I started to feel the signals after a week or two. They feel different to pre-op full -- it's like a stuck burp for me, and then I know that's the last bite. I also sometimes get the hiccups when I'm full.

Congratulations! It is nice to start feeling a bit more normal isn't it? I will be two weeks out on Tuesday and I tried a couple of bites of scrambled egg this morning. I am technically not supposed to have them until Wednesday but it just sounded SO good. My tiny bites were definitely enough and I am stayed on my creamed Soups and Protein Drinks for the rest of the day. I can't wait to start eating a bit of food too. B)

Easter dinner was interesting- I ate a bite of each thing my mom cooked. She kept asking are you sure you don't want more??? I was thinking to myself, is she trying to make me sick???? lol

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
