Surgery scheduled on Monday 04/25

Recommended Posts

Hello to all! I am new to this forum. I have my sleeve scheduled for this Monday 4/25/11. I have been doing the pre-op liquid diet for the last 6 days and like everyone else am hungry! I just keep focused on the success I can have by doing this. I have been thinking and researching about WLS for about 3 years now. I have chosen Dr. Daniel Cottam in Salt Lake City, UT to do the procedure for me. I am very pleased with his knowledge and experience. I would recommend him to all and I haven't even had the surgery yet! I will post more after I have surgery on Monday and hope that I can make a few friends here on the forum.

Thanks

Lilyv

Good luck! I am two months post-sleeve and haven't regretted it for a nano-second. Best thing I have done for myself in years. Get a support belt and with a heating pad and use them. They help a lot to help you feel better after surgery.

Welcome! Good luck on your surgery!!! Its a wonderful change! I agree about the support belt, they gave me one at the hospital before I went home, it helped out sooo much. Especially when I was in the car!

Lily how did your surgery/healing go? I am trying to decide between Dr. Cottam and another Dr. At the university of Utah. Can you tell me about your experience?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
