Sharp internal pain - 6 days post-op

Recommended Posts

Parallel to my bellybutton on the left side is a sharp pain which I'm assuming is from my stomach. The pain is semi-constant so it's not like it occurs only during Fluid intake or activity, etc. Does everyone experience this or is this something I should be worried about and see a doctor about? Thank you!

I think you should report any pain that is new to you or constant. Better safe than sorry.

I haven't felt any sharp pains. I will occasionally feel a muscle twinge but it's not sharp and not a big deal. If it's constant you should call your surgeon.

I think I figured it out and boy do I feel dumb!! I think it's been the waistband on the pants I've been wearing. Although they're elastic, they do cut in to that area of my stomach when I sit. When I was feeding my daughter I was in real pain and moved my waistband to underneath all my fat and felt instant relief!

I know this was a serious post- but I read that and laughed out loud! lol- haha- You don't know how many times I get my fat roll stuck in my rib and it hurts soooo bad- can't wait to loose the rolls so that dont happen anymore- lol

But on a serious note- if you find the pain is really still there and its not your pants- better call your doctor-

OMG that is so funny! That happened to me one night at Water aerobics I was thinking I had a stomach ache all class and it was my water belt being too tight!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
