does anyone else have this trouble

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on jan 11th this year, and my doc has set me free to a normal diet. has anyone else noticed that they cant eat anything with breading or has trouble eating bread products? I just get uncomfortable when i eat it. If i eat out, i get chk strips for the Protein, and i like chk anyway. but i find myself peeling the breading off cuz if i dont it makes finishing the meal impossible. is this a temporary thing or am i breading free forever? and the same with any kind of sandwich. still too early?

I think that does change over time, although a part of me wishes it wouldn't. It would help me stay away from bread/carbs. But early out, you don't have much room due to swelling. Also when bread gets to the tummy, the bread itself swells and can cause discomfort.

I'm now seven months out and still don't handle breaded things or even bread very well. I like knowing/thinking I can't eat it, so that way I stay away from it. Hehehe :) Good luck!

I was sleeved on 4-14-11 so am not having to deal with the yet. I get to start full liquids tomorrow!!! However, my daughter was sleeved on 7-1-10 and has lost 90 lbs to date. She is a carb watcher, so when she eats something like chicken nuggets or strips or anything breaded, she will take the breading off and eat maybe one small bite of breading to three bites of chicken. That way she is concentrating on her Protein intake but getting a little of the breading flavor along with the meat. You might give that a try. I look forward to the day :)

I was sleeved after you, on January 27th, I don't seem to have a problem with bread, sometimes it seems to fill me up quicker, but other times I feel I can eat more. Depends. I haven't tried anything breaded, like chicken or anything, just bread in general. So, this makes me wonder if this will always be the case for you since I am only a couple of weeks behind you. I guess it can be a good thing.

Hi :D I have not been sleeved yet, but my sister who had the gastric bypass 5 yrs ago, cannot eat bread at all, and a friend of mine (also bypass surgery), cannot have any breading, so I guess it is a common thing, but all depends on u. Hopefully it will get better. Good Luck to u. Keep up the good work :D

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
