Hi, fellow sleevers!! I just had a quick question! I'm 6 weeks post op and was wondering how many calories I should be taking in at this point? I'm getting anywhere from 800 to 1000 calories a day....is that good? Is it too much? I just didn't get much direction on calories....just that I should get a minimum of 60g of Protein a day from my dr's office. Thanks a bunch!!!

I'm 6 weeks out too and my Dr. just reinforced to me that I should be getting at least 1000cal/day to keep my metabolism going. I thought that sounded high. He said not to be too worried about cals, because if I was following the rules that I wouldn't be able to get in too many cals anyway. My prob was that I was holding onto tons of Water weight because I wasn't getting enough cals. Now that I'm getting around 900/day I am dropping quicker again.

Oh, good!!! I'm finding that I'm losing better (and feeling better) at 1k and as long as I'm following lean Protein first, I'm not having a problem with going over my calories! It's just SO weird, before surgery I struggled a LOT with a 1800 calorie diet....now I feel VERY full after eating 1k calories in a day! Crazy!!

That sounds just about right. At 3 weeks, I think I was getting from 300 to 600 cals/ day.

What kind of stuff are you eating to be able to get 1000 cal. a day in?

It IS hard to hit 1000 just eating very nutritious food, the quantities are just too much -- but I don't want to supplement with crap calories either. But I have been using 2% milk, and full-fat cheese, and regular cottage cheese, etc. I think if I'm only eating just small amounts, I want high quality and good taste, as well as calorie content. Besides, I don't think going too low-fat is that great for me. I also have Peanut Butter from time to time. It's still hard to hit 1000 now I'm only two months out.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
