I have no idea what goal weight to set. How did you decide? I'm afraid to go too low, as in what the charts say I should weigh, because I've never weighed that and I don't want to fail. Did you just set small goals along the way?

I picked mine in the middle of the normal BMI range. I did weigh in that range 20 years ago so I know what I looked and felt like. It's a flexible goal, though, as my metabolism has changed over two decades. I want to get to my goal and see if it is maintainable if I eat like a reasonable person. If not, I'll add a few pounds. It's more about how I feel than the number on the scale.< /p>

I've been overweight, obese or morbidly obese since I was 10 years old. I've never weighed in the normal range in my entire adult life. So for me, normal is my first goal. For my height I would need to get to 136 to hit a BMI of 24.9 which is just inside of normal. I think 130 would keep me to a point where I could fluctuate 5ish lbs and still stay in normal range. So 130 is my goal. I don't want to be teeny...just normal.

For me, it's all about having a NORMAL BMI...so it's the weight that matches that. I would love to get to 140 the weight I was when I got married, fingers crossed :)

I recently posted a similar concern- I had no idea what to set as a goal weight since I haven't been under 200 pounds since I was 18 years old! Like you, I can't fathom being what is considered a "normal" weight. I finally decided that my first goal will be to get under 200 and then I will have a better idea of what my final goal should be. And, I will also have had a chance to see the success and begin to believe that a normal weight/BMI is within my reach now. Good luck with your goal setting!

I think that is what I will have to do too. My first goal is 199 and then once I achieve that I will set a new goal. Thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
