Trouble with Pre-Op weight loss

Recommended Posts

I'm having a heck of a time losing the weight pre op..., I read other suggestions here that I should go ahead and start the hi Protein low cal diet now, so I just got back from the health food store I bought a Blender Bottle and some unflavored whey Protein Powder, also some samples of other stuff. But it's all fruit, chocolate, vanilla flavored. I was looking for Unjury chicken flavor, but they never even heard of it there. unsure.gif So I need to search for a place that sells it.I'm following my diet (1200) and exercising ... (ran a mile in 10 minutes, Wii fit for 2 hours and got 5 stars on Michael Jackson Experience Thriller on "Inhuman" level). Thriller_Dance_Emoticon_by_tomatofruit.gifand still gained a pound.th_a1-gaah.gifMy doctor is just enough of a stickler to postpone my May 5th surgery. Also, what keeps you from being hungry when you go on all liquids?

You can only get Unjury online. I was really hungry on my preop liquids -especially the first day. I even had a hunger headache. I just kept thinking of another member of this site that gained on the preop diet and the surgeon postponed her surgery. Stick with it -You can do this!

The first day of pre op diet is hard, really hard because you are breaking the carb addiction and lower calories and fat. It does get easier, by day 3 you will be fine.

This is a sore subject for me since I had a lot of trouble losing preop weight and my doctor postponed my surgery too. After that I totally gave up carbs. No Pasta, no fruit, not even whole grain bread. I was not fun to live with during this time. I would pace around the kitchen and know that I couldn't do it, or else I'd never get the surgery. I did make sure I got lots of Protein with a chocolate whey protein and skim milk shake. It tastes pretty good, and is filling. Good luck!

Thanks so much for the replies... Heather, Cheri, Kelly and "FatBGone" I think I may quit the carbs ahead of time too. I am definitely a carbaholic. nodding.gif

This is kinda scary though, isn't it? I mean, If it were this easy for me to lose weight, would I even need this surgery?

I thought the part where I quit smoking after 35 years would be the hard part... little did I know...

I've lost 35 lbs doing low carb no sugar, which to me is easier than the shakes. I know I will have to do liquids pre-op and post-op so I don't wanna do that until I just have to lol. It took but a few months to lose it and I've stalled for 4-5 months but hey, I'm not gaining. And I maintained thru the holidays without gaining which is a major accomplishment for me haha. I didn't feel deprived either. I actually feel like I've broke the stall now and maybe dropped a few more lbs but my battery went out on my scales, But I feel so much better already, can't wait til I lose more with the sleeve!!! Good luck to you!!

Thanks Kelly,Congratulations on your weight loss... thumbsup.gif

I need to figure this out quick as I go on all liquids on the 20th of April.

I went to a Herbalife Nurticenter today and got a shake, the first sip wasn't bad, but as it progressed, it tastes like feet. crazy.gif

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
