5 months out and finally not hungry

Recommended Posts

Is this unual, I'm 5 months now. For the first 4 months I still felt hungry, not like before surgery but I knew it was time to eat. Now I have no hunger, could it take that long to stop feeling hungry? And I only hope it doesn't come back. Thanks Janine

Oh gosh me too!!! Some days I have no hunger and other days I have tons!! Not sure why, just something with the way our body tries to balance things. Maybe your body has adjusted to the amount of calories and knows the normal intake you have had for the last 4 months has been sufficient so it stopped craving food and telling you it was hungry? Either way, I would be thankful for it!!

I think the hormones stay around for different times for different people. I was so upset because I was hungry all the time and suddenly around 10 weeks post op...the hunger pains went away..

I occasional get an emptly feeling but never hunger pains like before. I am lovin this sleeve and the confidence it gives me.B)

I was thinking this is all in my head. I guess its good for all newer sleevers knowing that they still can lose their hunger even if its 4 month later . Now I wish my stomach will tell my head its not hungry.

Oh my gosh, I'm 10 days Post op and I've been so hungry and no one believes me. I'm really glad to hear it might go away!

What I am amazed by is that my hunger pattern is exactly the same as before 1 month out. Some days I get hungry, some days I don't. Same as before. But, unfortunately the same as before, when I get hungry I GET HUNGRY. Hunger has always hit me fast which was one of the problems I had. If I was out driving around and suddenly got really hungry, I'd hit a drive through. Now, I'm carrying a small 2 ounce serving of sugar free apple sauce for a quick fix. I can't wait another month when I will be okay to have a small Protein bar in my purse. Hunger does not happen before 2 hours. But sometimes it will hit at 2.5 when I'm not planning to eat until 3 hours so I need a little something to fall back on. Even if it's just for 1 bite.

And while everyone said mine is/was head hunger I know it's not because I am content to eat applesauce. I am not fond of applesauce but it fills the hunger. I think if it was just in my head, I'd be wanting something I actually liked.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
