I had my VSG on March 16, 2011. I thought that I was doing well with the weight loss and I've been at a stall for the past week. Its so frustrating. I went from 251 down to 239 and the scale has not moved. I'm currently on the mush diet, getting in my Protein shakes and even started back at the gym. I've read through the different threads and I guess I'm just at the "3 week stall". Its even more frustrating because I had surgery with a gal I met at the hospital and she's already lost 26 lbs. I'm truly happy for her, but I just don't know what else I can do at this point besides wait it out. I know how many people feel that hit the stall and it feels like the end of the world. I'm just praying that the weight loss starts back up soon. Right now I'm starting to question my decision about having had the surgery. I've lost weight on my own before and I've never had this happen this early on.

Hey Dani,

Try not to feel disheartened! I know it is diffcult. I am well known for my stalls...lol... and am currently in the middle of a LONG one, but I am not gaining so I am relatively happy!

It will pass, at three weeks out concentrate on feel 'well'. Remember that your body is still adjusting and is probably wondering what the hell has happened.

Your stall will pass and you will lose weight. Chin up and let us know how you get on...

Same exact thing happened to me. Same time frame, same weight even. Just like any other diet I have tried, the first thing I lost was all the Water weight. Then, since I was only eating about a 1/4th or 1/5th of what I was before, my body went into a sort of starvation mode holding on to everything I consumed.

I busted through the plateau pretty easily. Here's how. 1) I added tasteless Fiber to all Protein shakes. 2) I made sure I drank a lot of Water (the body needs water to burn fat). 3) I walked. It sounds frustrating, I know, to hear "just exercise and you will lose weight" but what it actually did was kick start my body's fat burning process. Your body needs fuel to keep going and if you are only consuming so much food, it will have to turn to other sources for fuel (i.e. body fat). I only walked for 20-30 minutes per day and 5 days later I had dropped another 5 lbs. I will say that by increasing my water intake, I did gain 1 or 2 lbs the first day, but you have to trust me, it will magically fall off after that.

There will be times that you don't feel like walking but these are the best times to go. It's your body saying "hold on, don't do that, not enough fuel to do that" so it takes just a little discipline to bust through the plateaus.

Dani -

I feel your pain! I was sleeved 3/14 and am having similar results. I'm so frustrated and a bit sad! And, compounding my frustration, DH had the sleeve 3/22 and has already SURPASSED me in the weight loss!!! Ugh! I keep going on hoping it will start moving in the right direction soon!

Jdell's advice sounds good and I may adopt some of it to see if that helps! Good luck! And, don't feel bad about being frustrated. I think we can do that!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
