Now I'm having second thoughts....

I have 2 weeks to go as well. Sure I am nervous but I keep thinking about the alternative.

It took me 2 years to even think about calling the doctor. I would watch those shows on Discovery Channel about people who needed 10 paramedics to move them to a hospital or the guy who had surgery in time for his High School reunion. I wanted to be those people and did not think there was any way I ever could get there. Finally one day I was mentally ready to do it. I made the phone call. For me that was the hardest part.

I think a big reason I was able to take that step was getting my depression under control. My doctor required a psych eval before I could get scheduled. I would advise the same for you. Go see someone and see what they advise. Maybe your surgeon's office can reccomend someone who specializes in bariatric surgery.

Don't get discouraged, just take each thing step by step.

Second thoughts are healthy and normal, so are nerves on the day of surgery. I've only ever had elective surgery before, but for some reason this felt much different, much less medical surgery and more about vanity, which really it was for me. So I really had very bad nerves on the day, I've also not had surgery with 3 kids waiting at home for me too.

But I cant tell you how glad I am I did this and how much it has changed my life. Its hard here, when you hear the problems people have etc, but I for one have never had pain, have never PB'd, can eat any food and am still losing weight. I hit the 80's yesterday (I work in kilograms) and now weigh less than I did than at the height of my first pregnancy 11 years ago - and I wasnt even overweight then. Its nothing short of miraculous.

I felt very scared about giving up comfort food - but to be honest, I have never enjoyed my food like I do now that it has no sinister power over me. I am able to enjoy good food without being scared that I will lose control and eat too much.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
