Hi There. I am almost 3 weeks post op and I am starting to become a bit discouraged. I lost 27lbs from 3 days pre-op diet until 1.5 post op. I was on cloud nine and so thrilled. Iknew it would drastically slow down at some point, but since 1.5 weeks out I have lost zero! .....Not only zero, but I have actually gained 2lbs back. I have strictly followed the guidelines and have been moving so much more in this past week and a half too, so I assumed that while it would slow down, that I wouldn't be completely stalled and gaining?!?! I'm assuming my body is in shock or starvation mode or something, but I wish I could do something to get it going again. Any ideas?!? I really don't want to get discouraged because that is my old pattern...to fall off the wagon. Is this normal for any of you and how long until it got moving again? Thanks!

I had the dreaded 3rd week stall. What got it going for me was I increased my calories for 3 days. Tricked my body into thinking it was out of the starvation mode. Note this worked for me and it may or may not work for you. This is only a suggestion.

Sounds like the 3rd week stall. There are a lot of threads on the board talking about a stall in week 3-5. I am making a concerted effort not to weigh myself more than once every 2 weeks because I don't want to get hung up on the numbers. I know I am only eating about 400 cals a day (I cant fit in any more) and there is no way to gain significant weight with the way you eat in the first month.

Hang in there!

Hang in there 27lbs in 2 weeks is a fantastic loss. You must've seen it on the Biggest Loser when folks have had a big loss and then the next they get a zero or even a gain when they're working just as hard. I know it's frustrating, but weight less frequently like someone else suggested! wink.gif

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
