Nesting before surgery

Recommended Posts

I am finding that in the weeks before my surgery I am nesting like I did when I was pregnant waiting for the baby. Cleaning out closets, Steaming the carpets, Redecorating a bit. I guess maybe it is a way to keep myself busy as I wait for the big date! Did anyone else do this??

I'm not nesting so much as trying to prepare for my new eating. I bought a new blender, have been trying all kinds of liquid Protein, stocking up on Jello, that sort of thing. Would you come to my house and that cleaning thing????

Ha! If I get mine all done and do not know what to do next I just may come to your house.

I am doing the prep thing too. Have a fridge full of Protein shakes. Ordered Jello and Soups from Bariatric Choice. I keep trying to stop myself from packing my hospital bag with all the things suggested by people on this site. My surgery is April 19th so I think I need not pack yet but I so want to! Just finding myself a bit obsessive during all this or lets just call it prepared not obsessed!!

I don't believe there such a thing as being over-prepared, and YES, I nested big time before my revision. My in-laws were coming to stay with me since my husband was deployed so not only did I have to prepare for surgery, I had to prepare for in-laws staying with me for 2 weeks. Talk about cleaning and organizing obsessively.

My biggest suggestion for packing for the hospital is pack LIGHTLY. For me, lip balm/chapstick/lip moisturizer and smelly good body lotion was essential. I also have to have my make-up. I don't care what anyone says being able to put on my face made me immediately feel better. Honestly, I could have skipped the shower as long as I had on my mascara LOL. Okay so maybe not skip the shower, but make-up and body lotion makes a world of difference in how I feel.

Yep, I did the same nesting , just like when I was about to give birth! I agree with Tiff, make up, moisturiser, perfume, take things that will make you feel and smell nice! I also had a manicure and pedicure before going into hospital just like I did before giving birth, as well as waxing my waxable bits, call me weird but hey!

That's the perfect description. lol. I was just thinking an early spring cleaning, but yes nesting sounds right. I'm due to start my preop diet Thursday, so my goal is to deep clean every room by wednesday, so it'll all be done while I have the energy to do it.

I cleaned out my closet BIG time LOL. Being that I was getting sleeved in March, I got rid of all of my winter clothes and took them to the Goodwill. It was a sweet farewell so to speak. I can't wait to shop for all new winter clothes. Well, for the first time in years I am excited about shopping for a winter wardrobe, knowing that I will be a lot smaller.

I'm being sleeved in the AM -- and boy, did I go crazy cleaning the house and doing all the laundry this past weekend!! I figured I'd be looking at it enough in the coming days, so why not??? So I guess I had big time nesting!!

Me, too! Mine is April 8th and I have cleaning down to a science. It's just like nesting before a baby. I'm stockpiling Protein Drinks, etc as if stores won't be open for months, etc. Love to see I'm not too weird in that regard!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
