A placebo appointment! How funny!

I'm the same way. I can eat! Then I go and get something stuck, or it's that TOM, and I think "am I nuts? I don't need a fill!"

I think I'm going to get one anyway. Sometimes the smallest amount can really help. I just need to wrap my head around eating slowly and oh-so- carefully at EVERY moment...if a placebo appointment would do it for me, I'd pay for it! :)

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one this is happening to. I've waited 7 months for my 3rd fill. I'm always tight in the am. I drink lots of hot herbal teas. Something I can tolerate Progresso veggie Soup at noon and sometime not until 2pm. And then, sometimes I sip and pick at it all afternoon at my desk. Then on other days, I can try anything and not have problems. Go Figure.

I thought I was going crazy or that it was all in my head. Well, I had my 3rd fill this past tuesday 6/20/06. Just 0.5cc to make a total of 3.0cc. My Dr told me 2 days on liquids. Well I've tried Cottage cheese and it's making me really tight and miserable. Even lentil Soup which is real soft is causing tightness that I've never had....I guess it's more liquid stuff for me for awhile.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I was starting to think I was a head case:p

Okay, check this out. This morning I had 1/2 cup egg salad with 8 Townhouse crackers. Then for lunch...just to test the fill thingy...I heated up 6 ounces (I weighed it!) of baked chicken (boneless skinless breast in honey teriyaki marinade) and sat here at the puter and nibbled. Got stuck...ouch! oooooh! hmmmmm! eeeeeek! UGH! so I plopped about 1/4 cup of sour cream onto the bowl of chicken and ate ALL of it no problem. Man, was it good with that sour cream. So, now I'm not hungry (good thing, right?) and we'll see how long this lasts. I'll post an update tonight after dinner. I'd love to get some feedback from you all about whether or not I need a fill. Whose thread is this? wildflower...I hope this helps you, too!!!! LOL

Me too....I was banded in March, have had one fill of 1.6cc last month. I just don't know what to do either. Somedays I can eat and the next day the same thing I ate gets stuck. When do you know that you need another fill when this is happening? Good to know that I am not alone. I thought something was wrong with me to.....

Thanks for the information and the sharing. It really helps....

Update...it's over 2 hours later and I'm still nice and full. But you know what's got me? My sweet tooth. I could eat something sweet so easily right now! I dont' want supper, I want a Starbucks Mocha Frap, or a WW ice cream bar (2 points...which is probably what I'll get) or some chocolate. I'm having carb withdrawals? LOL The only real carb I've had today were the crackers this morning. So, maybe I don't need a fill. Maybe I need an attitude adjustment!

Wildflower~

I have the same exact problem! I always think I have no restriction and then I pb. I just had a fill last week and I"m starting to think that I may have gotten too much. I'm unable to drink liquids until the afternoon. I'm waiting it out the weekend though and might call my md on Monday. But I am usually all over the board with restriction.....Nora

I'm finding the same thing happening with me. I've just had my second fill and wouldn't you know the week before everything I ate began to cause golfballs in my chest. Never PB'd, just hurt till I quit eating or slowed down.

Got my second fill and now it's a crap shoot. In the mornings I don't care if I eat or drink and at night it's all I want to do.

I think my band is just playing head games with me. :paranoid And both of my fills were the week before my cycle, so who knows what that's doing to me. Of course family will be visiting this week and we'll be eating out quite a bit, so this should be interesting to see how my band decides to react.

I have been having the same problems! It is driving me absolutely insane! I am debating getting a fill, my DH thinks I might need one and I am not sure. I can eat something and get full and then turn around and have the damn munchies!! Like a craving for chocolate or some chips!! :faint: Yesterday I think I grazed all day...muching on this and that and I think it's because my DH was out of town and I was bored and doing laundry all day! But when it came to dinner I did pretty good! I made spaghetti for the family and I baked zucchini and put the sauce over it instead of having the Pasta but then I got the munchies! I put it off though and went out on the back porch and exercised...:clap2: Yeah me! But like this morning....I have had 3 cups of coffee, bought Jack in the Box for breakfast...an Extreme sausage sandwich and ate the one egg and 2 sausage patties and threw away the bread and now I am working on a Lo-Carb Monster drink...and I know when it comes down to lunch...It will get stuck! Is that because I am still full or because I have tightened? And if I am full...I don't feel it because I am hungry by lunchtime OR do I think I am hungry BECAUSE it is lunchtime???? See that is my dilema...So do I get the fill or not??? And if I do get the fill...should I try a liquid diet for a couple of weeks (protein drinks)....I am actually tired of figuring out what to eat! All meat gets stuck and I stay away from breads and pastas but Cereal and oatmeal are fine. And everything that I crave is the crap that goes down VERY easily....:angry . I am glad to see that I am not the only one!

All meat gets stuck

IMO, you don't need a fill. Perhaps a tiny unfill, even, would be in order. You will choose MUCH better foods when you can eat a higher protien diet that includes fresh chicken and lean meats. If you can't eat moist, tender, lubed chicken, then you may be too tight.

Kathy...check out lapbandtransformation.com. There's a checklist there for "do I need a fill or not?" that's very handy. Makes you really think about your eating before you off and get filled.

I ate 1700 calories the other day. OMGosh!!!! I packed it in from dinner on...I'm thinking I need a small fill. I ate an entire hanburger...minus the well-chewed wad of unswallowable I always generate when eating ground beef.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
