San Diego tourist must sees and reasonable hotel

Recommended Posts

Ok my lovely friends,

I will be in SD for a few nights and need your advice. What should i do/see and where should I stay?

Preferably somwhere near the ocean at a reasonable price, is that possible? Also hotel not too far from the airport.

Thanks in advance!

I was at the San Diego Zoo back in December. It was fun. I wanted to spend more time looking at the other stuff in the area (museums, japanese garden, etc) but didn't get a chance. All of those places are right next to each other.

Not sure about where you should stay. Check out yelp.com and look at reviews.

I live in San Diego, and I can tell you that any nice hotel (Marriott, Hard Rock, Hilton, Solamar, the W) near downtown or near Lindbergh Field airport will be expensive. But there are plenty of cheap-er hotels around (like your Motel 8s and such).

I would suggest visiting Balboa Park (it's right next to the San Diego Zoo) as well as the Zoo. SeaWorld is fun, too (I have an annual pass!) and, if you can get to it, I'd highly recommend visiting the Gaslamp (near downtown). Great, totally San Diego atmosphere. Point Loma or La Jolla are beautiful places to visit (the beach), and if you love dogs, you can visit DOG BEACH! My favorite place. Tons of dogs running off-leash on the beach and in the ocean.

We have a pretty good public transit system here in SD (the trolley) and you can get pretty much anywhere using the trolley. It generally runs every 15 minutes during the day and it's an experience in and of itself :)

I stayed at the Comfort Inn which was near old town and it was nice and I thought reasonable. My surgeon' s office made all the arrangements and i am sure that through his office, I got a discount.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
