OK ladies I need some help here. I have good restriction but my fav foods are mushy enough that if I eat slowly enough over an extended period I can pack in quite a bit. I am really struggling with head hunger and tastebud cravings. I am good for a week then I fall off the wagon the next and then back to being good. I lose, I gain then I lose again. I am so frustrated with myself. Could the depression be making the head hunger worse and harder to resist? Please tell me this will get at least a little easier as my new medicine kicks in. I ate 3 pieces of meatloaf tonight! Ugh, yes I am very full. My pouch and the rest of my stomach too. I am so afraid that I will make my band slip if I don't get a grip on this!

Waterlily,

Hang in there. Yes, of course depression affects head hunger. I can personally attest to the fact that I wouldn't have needed the band if I didn't suffer depression. I'm sure once your meds kick in, you'll start feeling better. In the meantime, you need to keep reminding yourself of your goal and why you're doing this in the first place.

BTW, I LOVE MEATLOAF!!! LOL!!!

Hey Molly! I'm suffering depression right now also. I just have to use very small plates to control my portions and I use the baby spoons and forks also to make sure I'm taking small bites and I sit my utencil down between bites to make sure I'm not shoveling in. I will watch tv when I eat and if I finish and i'm still hungry I watch a 30 min show first and if I'm still hungry at the end I'll get a little more. Goofy , huh? My first fill is working great for me. I went from 373 last tuesday to 367 today. YAY!

Oh geez I've only managed to gain 3 pounds in the last few weeks! It's all this pre-op eating I'm doing. I'm starting my liquid diet on the 22nd so the pounds should start coming off by the end of the month.

Hang in there aza, the last supper will be done soon and if all you've gained is three pounds you are doing well  Just remember, you aren't giving up food forever, it will be waiting fo you when you're all healed just in much smaller portions

Weird thing, i can eat solids just fine but milk I struggle with. I don't slime I just feel it back up a tiny bit then go down. I feel it a little bit with Water sometimes but always with milk. Maybe it's because it has more movement so I can feel it? Just weird.

Hey guys! I had company for the past week and haven't been online. But, I read up from where I left off and y'all have been busy bees!!

Molly, I can totally relate to this whole getting off track thing. I don't know what the heck is going on with me. I am eating like I was never banded. I am disappointed with myself. Not exercising and eating way too much junk.

Is anyone else around the 6 month mark?? Is this a normal phase you go through once you've been banded awhile? Or, do I just need someone to kick my Buns?

Hi Lapbandit,

I was banded just over 6 months ago and played around with losing and regaining the same 3 pounds for a few weeks. I am back on track but it does take a lot of discipline. Try planning your meals for the next day the night before and include one or two Snacks. I am now back to eating the 3 meals in the correct portion sizes and only usually have one snack a day.

Are you due for a fill? I have yet to get proper restriction (getting closer) and have an appointment scheduled for the 18th. I am hoping that also helps. The last one was only 0.3 cc and that did nothing.

Hang in there, you WILL get back on track.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
