Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of a website that lists food and there of Protein amounts. Tons of site that list calories but since Protein is key and I will soon move to mushies it would be nice to be able to account for the amount of protein i'm eating.

Thank you!

CommonSenseHealth.com has a nice downloadable/printable list of high Protein and high Fiber food lists if you sign up for their mailing list.

LiveStrong.com "my plate tracking" is also where i track my food on a daily basis. It's nice because it's free and you can see how many carbs, Protein, fat you have had for each meal as well as track your Water and exercise. It has a huge database of foods and also allows you to enter your own recipes and it figures the nutritional breakdown per serving. I have found it to be an invaluable tool.

Good luck to you and hope this helps!

Sue

I love www.fitday.com It is free as well d they have a new iPhone app as well (also free). Let's you store your common foods and I love how it shows my weight change in graphs, etc. I'm a very visual learner type person. :)

I bought a biggest loser kitchen scale at BJ's whole sale that not only weighs food, it tell the calories, Protein, carbs, and so on, it cost me 20.00 or 29.00 dollars I think. Weighing it in the kitchen is so much easier than checking online for me.

I was told on average that 1 oz of any meat contains 7 grams of Proteins. As far as bean and such I have no idea. Take a look at the Gastric Sleeve Diet by Joseph E. chebli . YOu can search for him on the web or you can search gastric sleeve diet on this forum and it will pull it up. I think it has the Protein chart in it.

I was given the RealizeMySuccess.com website and that allows me to chart all my stats, keep track of the foods I eat (or don't) and record the food label info of each item I eat/drink so I can visually see how much protein, etc I'm getting each day and what foods/drinks my body rejects so I won't forget. This has been really helpful for me pre-surgery and eventually will keep me on track as I travel further down the road.

Spudds :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
