Just started solids. Did I do Ok?

Recommended Posts

Hi All- I've been banded for 3 weeks and today was my first day of solids. For Breakfast I had a spoon of Peanut Butter and about 4 saltines. For lunch, some shredded chicken and salad- chewed to death. Dinner- 4 oz. Steak and a small side salad and a small order of steamed veggies. It was a kids meal. Did I eat too much? It all went down fine. I could have kept going but, once I gave it a minute I was very satisfied. How much is too much?

Thanks,

Julia

I'm addicted to this site. You all are fun.

I sounds like you did great. It's hard to say what is too much before your first fill. If it hurts, if you PB or if you feel stuffed it's too much. As long as you make good food choices, eat slowly, and stop when you are satisfied you can't do too much wrong.

If you start to find yourself eating more before becoming satisfied, that's ok for now since you don't have a fill yet.

My doctor has recommended not to eat steak for a long while. I have read on here it is the toughest of all foods for most to eat. You might want to remember that for after your fill. It doesn't appear you had any trouble with it though.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
