Its been a little over a week since plication

Recommended Posts

So I am a few days over a week since plication and I am down 12 lbs. I am sure I am down a few more since I last weighed in but I am trying to only weigh in weekly. Any one else doing that? I don't want to become obsessed with the scale ya know? I am still on full liquids but cooking for the family and being around food is really starting to get to me and the head hunger. I am staying the course so far, although last night I broke down and had a spoonful of hummus. I felt it immediately so I think I learned my lesson on that! I am not as lethargic as I was but it doesn't take much to wear me out. I finally started walking yesterday, I know I should have been doing it earlier but I...well I don't know why! I have had a few cocktails with my girlfriends which has helped to not make me feel totally deprived but I sip on the same drink for about 3 hours. I just want all this weight off like pronto but I know it is a process. The only irritant is the nightly stomach gurgling. It keeps me up and it almost feels like my stomach is growling followed by like a strange wave of nervous feeling. I don't really know how to explain it but I'm wondering if its normal. I am just looking forward to the soft diet in 12 days!

Hi Olivia, congrats on the surgery and losing 12lbs already!! Banane01.gif

I had a quite a bit of gurgling while I was swallowing stuff in the first couple of weeks. I was taking in a lot of air and the only thing I can put it down to is things being swollen, as it then just went away. I felt pretty tired for the first few weeks after surgery as anesthetic just does that to me, so hopefully in a few weeks that'll stop soon too.

Mushies are great and even though it seems ages away, they'll come round in no time.

All the best for your continued success and I look forward to hearing more from you. smile.gif

Olivia,

12 pounds is great!!!

Hummus is actually a great choice so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Liquids are hard! I was allowed to start mushies on day 10 but had to start 1 day early cause I got stuck with no liquids when my car broke down and I was fine. I just chewed and chewed and probably only ate about 1.5 oz. of chili.

Are you taking a PPI like prilosec or pepcid? That seems to help with acid but my tummy still makes a lot of noise and seems very "active"!

No, I havent been taking anything like that mainly because I didn't think it was related to acid. Maybe it is, it just mostly reminds me of hunger pangs. Strange. I wish they let me start mushies on day 10! I wonder why there are such differing recommendations from doctors.

Olivia,

You should go out and buy some Prilosec. You can get it at any supermarket or Target. It seems that most everyone who has had sleeve or plication is taking a PPI, at least for the first month. My dr. recommends 2 per day for the first 4 weeks. When I don't take it, I definitely notice a difference in my "hunger" pains.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
