January sleevers how are you doing?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on Jan 4th and lost 19lbs in two weeks then only 5lbs in the last 3 weeks! Is that it? Can i expect to only lose 1-2lbs a weeks now? Hardly seems fair, i could do that without the surgery.

I'm hoping that after the initial big loss my body is adjusting before i start losing big again. Even 3lbs a week would be good.

So how are the rest of you doing?

Anyone else out there go through the same thing and then have their loss increase? I don't look much different and feel disappointed when i hear other people doing so much better.

'm been on solid food since week 2 and don't have much restriction so i have to watch what i eat, mostly Protein with some salad or veg and some yogurt now and then. Around 800-1000 cals a day.

I lost 20 pounds on my pre surgery two week diet and 20 pounds in since surgery. I'm 4 weeks out and last week I only lost a pound. I was a little upset but I'm losing more inches. PLUS, I feel if you lose it slow it will stay off FOREVER and give your skin time to tighten up some! That is how I'm looking at it!

Good Luck and we will LOSE!!!

I am 4 weeks out today and have lost 27 pounds since the surgery, which was done Jan. 13/11. I lost 24 pounds the first 3 weeks, and only 3 pounds the last week, so my weight loss has slowed down as well.

I am four weeks out today and have lost 20 lbs. I lost 17 lbs. in 17 days and then it has been coming off so s-l-o-w-l-y. I started at the gym this week swimming and doing some weights so I hope that will help. From the previous posts it sounds like it is normal for some of us to lose slower. I have the metabolism of a lizard in winter anyway but I just keep telling myself that it is impossible not to lose on 600 calories a day.

i was sleeved 1-11-11...and i have lost about 10 pounds since surgery, so that was like 4 weeks ago tomorrow...omg. i cant believe its been a month. i think we are all different and we will lose however our body wants to. my exercise specialist told me that the first place on my body that i gain, will be the last place that i lose from. damn, cuz i really want my hips to go away lol. i keep hearing that a high Protein diet will help. but we all just have to find our own groove. it'll happen :) hang in there and good luck!!!

Thanks for the replies everyone, it looks like i'm about average. I'm just worried that if i can only lose 1-2lbs at 5 weeks out what is it going to be like at 3 or 6 months out.

Does anyone still feel hungry? I'm constantly thinking what my next meal will be. I so wish i was one of the ones that forgets to eat and can't be bothered with food.< /p>

Keep in mind that its not so much how fast you lose, but how successful you are keeping it off. Thats where we have had our downfalls in the past. I know in the past I have not been able to sustain a 600-700 calorie diet for long enough to lose much weight. Its pretty easy with the sleeve.

I am at three weeks+ and have lost 21 lbs, (including two days of Clear liquids before surgery) The last 11 days I have lost only one pound. I have lost inches over the last 8 days. I highly suggest measuring, and not just using the scale to feel your success. My doc said why set yourself up for failure with numbers?

I was sleeved on 1/26/11 and have lost 19 lbs so far.........haven't hit the dreaded 3 wk stall yet. However, I'm also still on full liquids at least through next Tuesday. Then pureeds & then mushies. I don't expect to be eating regular food until I'm at least a month out.

I'm at 3 weeks and HAVE hit the 3 week stall. That being said, I've lost 24 lbs in 2 weeks so I can't complain. If I don't lose next week, I will say I will be PI**ED! I am not hungry, but I do feel like I'm obsessing about food. I think about eating every hour and find myself nibbling here and there. I have to reign that in. I don't like eating a bite every 90 min. It literally is a1-3 bites of food every 90 min. I'd much rather eat 6-10 bites every 3-4 hours. I think I'm eating too many carbs but I like them and I can't eat just Protein. That being said, I never eat a carb w/out a protein. (that goes back to my diabetic diet) Eating carbs alone means I want more to eat and want to eat more often. I may eat 4 TBS tuna Fish and then eat 2 ritz crackers with it. I think that's a good balance. Same with Soup, maybe 1/2 cup soup w/ 4 crackers. I haven't had bread yet as I cant' try that for 2 more weeks. I don't know that I will eat it again. Although, a turkey sandwich sounds really good. :D

I was sleeved on 1/5 and I just had my doctor followup today and got weighed for the first time since pre-fast. I'm down 46 pounds since Dec 19, so I'm really pleased so far.

Want the weather to get better so I can get out and walk more...getting antsy!

Well I was sleeved on 5th Jan, and I had lost 25lb, but have gained 2lb back and now seem to be stalling!!!

I'm actually really re-asured that we are mostly in the same place. I am struggling with what to eat at the moment, so I'd be interested to know what everyone is eating.

Hey there fellow January sleevers. I was sleeved on January 6 at Kaiser Hospital, South San Francisco and I am down 40 pounds since surgery and 79 total since starting the program. I am so grateful for the weight I've lost and I know my stall date is coming soon so I am sticking with the meal plan with Protein to the max and exercising like crazy. I love my sleeve!

I was sleeved on 1/7, lost 14 lbs in the first 10 days but only 2-3 lbs a week since and have had a very bumpy plateau this past week. I'm down about 21 lbs and tomorrow will be my 5th week post op. I did some math and for my weight and bmr and current calorie intake, I should be losing about 2.5 lbs a week, so I just try to tell myself everything is going fine when I get discouraged. Never in my life did I ever lose close to this much weight so fast, so I console myself with that.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
