Sleeved on 2/3! Question on Blake Drain

Recommended Posts

So I had my surgery at 7am on 2/3, spent two days in the hospitaland got home on Saturday night.

The doctor left a Blake Drain in my left abdomen. This morning the tube was trying to push itself out and was pulling on the stitches. Anyone else have this issue? Have a call in to the doctor but he's in surgery so it's likely to be awhile before I hear from him.

I read one post where the person said that it didn't even feel asif she had surgery. Well, I did! OMG! I was in so much pain. I'm doing better now though I am having a little stomach acid problem. Almost makes me feel like I'm hungry without the sick feeling that hungerbrings. It, also, is better today.

I weighed myself yesterday. I wasn't sure if I wanted to,I didn't want to be disappointed but when it read a 9lb loss, I was thrilled

I'll continue on Clear liquids until Tuesday and then move to thefull liquids but I'm in no hurry as I don't seem to miss or crave any foods. My hubby toasted a bagel this morning and just smelling it was amazingly satisfying. Weird.

Anyway, thanks for everyones support.

Take care,

Cheri

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
